Is the Writer Too Old to Write?

Jordan Smith
There maybe a lot of things people become to old to do, such as surfing, skate boarding or even driving, but I have found writing to be one of the most soothing and relaxing things you can do in life. It does not matter how old you are. There is always something to write about. With age comes experience, with experience comes good and bad memories. There is nothing like reading a story that a patriarch or matriarch of the family has taken the time to place on paper. They are able to write about what they have gone through in life, what they have obtained, and what they have regretted. You would also be surprised about what you could learn not only about your family members, but about historical events in general.

No, you are never to old to stop writing. Being full of years and still writing is a great accomplishment. The older the writer the more they have observed. The wisdom and insight they have on different situations, episodes, and conditions are commendable. They have a wealth of discernment and knowledge to share with others. These truths can help and encourage many people that the writer may never come in contact with physically. The seasoned writer will tend to have more time to start an article and work on it vigorously verses the younger writer who is normally busy and have to make time to sit down and write.

You are never too old to write. Countless poems, books, novels, songs, scripts, etc. have been written by older people. They too were young and will tell you that you are only as young as you feel. Many older writers find great joy and pleasure in writing. Age does not matter just as long as you can think clearly. With modern technology all you have to do is speak into a microphone and it will type for you.

The reader has so much to gain from the well penetrating writer. The well profound writer who is able to peel away the shallow layers of the subject and go to the depth of the core. This can only come with maturity and development.

There are many writers who are considered by society standards to be to old to write, but they have not laid down their pen, the older they get the better they become. The pen and paper is considered to be their best friend.

Older writers have so much to offer society. They can remind us of yesterday, so that we will not take today for granted. No, you are never to old to stop writing, just pick up your pen and paper and allow your creative juices to flow.
