Islam in America

Islam could aid our American society in many ways. Islam is a universal message and America is in need of guidance. Islam is way of life in American society because much of this nation is having trouble. So many people are trying to get away from their troubles with artificial feel good items, such as illicit drugs and alcohol. Such things in Islam are not allowed and have proven to be of no good to personal health. Islam could contribute to the prevention of alcoholism in American society since it forbids alcohol. Many casualties of drunk drivers, and irrational behavior result when the use of alcohol is high; if Islam is truly practiced throughout this society, probability of such disastrous events is less likely. Instead of resorting to the artificial feel good items as mentioned, people would be seeking spiritual guidance and comfort through prayer with Islam .We wouldn't have any gambling either because it is also against Islam. Islam can contribute much more than staying away from self destruction.

In our own neighborhoods we muslims can contribute in many ways. We can help to clean the parks and streets; as Islam teaches cleanliness. We can help our neighbors. For example, if there is an elderly person in our neighborhood we could visit them, and help them, take a walk with them time to time or give them food. The American youth needs guidance and Islam could aid them by organizing clubs with scholarly, service, leadership and fellowship activities. The simple hello which is a greeting to each other is lost in our everyday life. When we greet each other with Assalamualaikum it seems like a simple greeting, but there is more to it. It shows your desire of peace with one another. Our neighbors would be more considerate towards us, if we practice true Islamic teachings of being considerate towards them. Islam can unite American society in many ways. However, it is idealistic to think that Islam could contribute anything to American society without any effort.

Every tribe and colony who was misguided at first had had a messenger sent to them. Islam has helped those in the past who have been misled. Islam had much to contribute to those tribes of the past as it has to contribute to modern society. Back when the people of the Prophet Muhammad (s) were misguided, there were many unjust practices. Prophet Muhammad (s) has given us examples to practice in today's society. With Islam being truly practiced in our society we would have no injustices or cheating going on such as in businesses with the common people. Everyday people would be more kind or considerate to one another. Nothing will be changed with Islam unless we example it on American society.
