Islam is Compatible with Liberal Western Values, Therefore Free Speech Should Be Restricted, Muslim Group Says

Chadd De Las Casas
I know George W. Bush is an easy target to attack, I know that when you have access to the internet and message boards and forums, conspiracy theories like we're living in 1984 and our Constitution has been suspended are comforting fantasies to live in, but that's really all they are. Frankly, if one is so incredibly interested in looking at a threat to American freedoms, one need only look north of our border, where best selling author Mark Steyn has been summoned by two judicial panels for review of his book America Alone, which accuses the West of succumbing inwardly to Islamic pressure.

In one way, this is among the greatest things that can happen to an author accusing the West of selling its freedoms to Islamization, having your freedom to express yourself denied because that expression offends Muslim sensitivities. They insist that Islam is absolutely compatible with the West, and to prove it, they intend to silence his ability to criticize it - which causes my head to spin more than the Saudis' conviction of a young girl for being gang raped.

The entire Western judicial process is turning into a giant joke - a playground for the Islamic world where liberal Western values (believe it or not, that doesn't mean American Liberalism in the sense of the Democratic Party) are literally attacked and decried in the streets.

Something happened in this topsy turvy world lately, and I wish I could point to when exactly, when people marching through the streets waving signs saying, "DEATH TO AMERICA" (which is okay according to some, because America is the source of all of the Middle East's woes, not their aggressive self spending, militaristic leadership styles, and incompatibility with neighbors) or, far more to the point, "FREEDOM GO TO HELL" are seen as less of a threat to the United States than a man democratically elected twice by that very nation.

Tragically, this isn't the first step Canada has taken towards complete Islamization, as it has even allowed culturally pertinent "Sharia Courts" to set up throughout the nation, where people are tried according to Islamic law instead of Canadian, secular law. If you think America is safe from this sort of radicalization, if you think this is just a bizarre hiccup in Canadian tolerance, think again as you take a look at Islamberg.

Yes, the idea that we need to appease hard line Islamic thought is actually flooding into our own borders, where Kafirs (that's people like me, who aren't Muslims, not to be confused with dhimmi, which I predict is the next logical step) are not allowed. The entire town is built on the idea of strict Sharia Law, devoted to one they believe is the direct descendant of the "last living messenger".

Mark Steyn's case is actually being handled as a human rights issue - just as we can actually say with a straight face that the Palestinians are facing "an unprecedented human rights issue" (as a hint, the Holocaust would be an unprecedented human rights issue, but unfortunately for British, they won't get to learn about the death factories their grandfathers fought to stop, because that goes against Westomuslim curriculum).

Fortunately for the Sane Western World, or what few there appear to be left, there's been at least something of a response, a backlash if you will, at the ill treatment of those afraid to become Mark Steyned. For example, the International Campaign Against Sharia Courts in Canada, otherwise known as nosharia.com, is trying to take a stand against the idea that Canadian citizens can are held to a different standard of justice than that guaranteed them by their secular government.

When I look at things like this, I really wish the worst problem facing Canadians right now was whether or not a French speaking province was saber rattling about secession again. Especially since their problem of trying to squash liberties to appease Muslims is spilling into our country.

So good of you to point out the non-conspiratorial (sp?) conspiracy. A very capable wordwizard you are.

Yeah Jeff, tell that to Belgium. I think it's time to step out of your bubble.

The guy with the "freedom go to hell" sign isn't a danger because no one takes him seriously, and he will find very little support among the electorate. What is dangerous is how many will use that sign to rally up the forces of ignorance.

    Informative.
