"I'm not defending O.J. I'm defending the rights of all Americans to have justice in the legal system no matter how despised they are," stated Najee Ali, executive director of Project Islamic Hope.
According to Project Islamic Hope's web site, they describe themselves as "a national civil rights organization that advocates for the human rights of oppressed People regardless of race, gender or religion."
O.J. Simpson may be a lot of things, but oppressed surely is not one of them. His troubles are not due to racism or poverty. Simpson is the creator of his own troubles. Thanks to the negligence of the Los Angeles prosecutors back in 1995, Simpson was found not guilty of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. Many people like to find fault with the jury which was made up of mostly African Americans for acquitting Simpson. The fact is maybe if the prosecutors of the case were not busy showing out for the cameras, planning book deals and basking in their own 15 minutes fame, maybe they would not had made so many mistakes during the trial.
So now we have 60 year old O.J. Simpson back in jail, for running around Las Vegas as if he was the star of his own Vegas gangster movie drama. He has made some bad very public moves over the last 12 years. One of those moves was penning the book "If I Did It", which gives an 'fictional" account of how he would have murdered Nicole and Ron.
Mr. Ali was right when he stated all Americans deserved to be treated fairly by the justice system, but O.J. Simpson needs to fight this battle alone. There are real injustices happening to citizens across this country, which desperately need attention drawn to it and warrant legitimate concern from the community. Basically, O.J. should not be the poster child for injustice simply because he beat the system once.

Post a CommentOJ Simpson is innocent!. he always has been. White america is unfairly trying to convict another black man (just like MJ) for a crime he did not commit even after they knew that the evidence did not make sense and he was found innocent by a jury of his peers.
If White people would get this bent out of shape that Emmitt Till's killers openly said they killed and tortured the boy and were as pissed off that those folks are walking around, the police who beat up Rodney King, and all of the officers involved in Abner Louima's torture, and the cops who shot Amadou Diallo 41 times, I'd say anger against injustice is unfair. But my "poor character and judgment" won't let me see past the fact that the cops would NOT help this man get his stuff back. The police could not WAIT for that man to do something wrong. Typical.
You also stated,"I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOve that O.J. got off." Sounds to me like "Hypocrisy" in action. Injustice is either wrong or it's not make up your mind.
continued...Again I say you have poor character and judgment, Shamontiel. Shame on you!
Shamontiel you stated,"In JET magazine, it says that he went to get paraphernalia that was rightfully his that someone wanted to sell for profit. He had every right to go collect his things." I have two problems with this. First, it doesn't belong to him it belongs to the families of the people he murdered. Second, so your saying once again it's OK to take the law into your own hands and rob someone at gun point, what kind of logic is this? It just shows you have poor character and judgment. You also stated,"I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOve that O.J. got off. It was one great big revenge for all of the crimes that were never...have you read my "Letter to America." I feel like O.J.'s case was the one thing we could say "This is how WE feel when people who are obviously guilty get away with a crime!" So your saying you don't care that these two people hard their heads damn near cut off, because they were white and he is black and that this is just some sort of cosmic payback? Again I say you have poo
Ericka, I'm right with you on this one: "White america is so obsessed with OJ they are going to send their souls straight to hell trying to get OJ." 400 years of crime and everybody says "Get over it," but White folks are so freaking bent out of shape over O.J. It pisses me off. Lorraine, I thought we were on the same page, but this article? Well, I guess we can't agree all the time. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOve that O.J. got off. It was one great big revenge for all of the crimes that were never...have you read my "Letter to America." I feel like O.J.'s case was the one thing we could say "This is how WE feel when people who are obviously guilty get away with a crime!"
Lorraine, we're NOT going to agree here. In JET magazine, it says that he went to get paraphernalia that was rightfully his that someone wanted to sell for profit. He had every right to go collect his things. When going to the POLICE, all they wanted to do was remind him of that damn trial years ago with his wife. If he's fighting in a battle alone about this one, then let him fight this one without the bias of the last one. I'm disgusted with the police everyday of my life, but even more disgusted when people feel the need to pound O.J. into the ground. You never hear the same people who belittle O.J. bring up Emmitt Till's killers who walk free this much.
Excellent piece.
Excellent balanced article!
I believe every one deserves justice, even O. J. Simpson. He deserves the same treatment as everyone else. If he is wrong he deserves to be punished. It seems he was set up. It was crazy for him to do what he did. I, also, put a lot of blame on the man who set the whole thing up. He didn't stop to think that his actions could have gotten someone seriously hurt. By the way, the man who set the whole meeting up has a criminal record in three States including California. O. J. was found not guilty of the double murder. That is now between him and God, if he did or didn't do it. We all have to answer to a higher Power one day. Even though I feel O. J. was set up; I feel, he do not take back what's his by using men with guns. However, the man who set the meetindg up was, also, very guilty. He probably already knew O. J. couldn't go to the police for help; so what did he think was going to happen? Did he think O. J. was going to come peacefully and say "please, give me back my stolen
