Isn't it Called Dancing with the "Stars"?

Season 11 Cast Includes Bristol Palin

Fans of Dancing with the Stars have anxiously awaited the big announcement: Who will make up the cast for season 11? They got their answer on Monday, August 30th, via a live announcement during commercial breaks on the reality television show, The Bachelor Pad. DWTS moderators, Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke, revealed the names of the six ladies and six guys who will participate in season 11's Dancing with the Stars.

Females:
Brandy, 31
Jennifer Grey, 50
Margaret Cho, 41
Audrina Patridge, 25
Florence Henderson, 76
Bristol Palin, 19

Males:
Michael Bolton, 57
Mike Sorrentino, 29
David Hasselhoff, 58
Kurt Warner, 39
Kyle Massey, 19
Rick Fox 41

Apparently, they're not all 'stars,' as Bristol Palin is one of the female dancers. Her main claim to fame seems to be that she's Sarah Palin's daughter. I guess we could call that a wise marketing strategy on the part of DWTS: create controversy that might result in more viewers, but it has the opposite effect on me. I'm thinking they should have found someone who had paid more dues in the entertainment industry. Bristol's the youngest participating female.

I guess, in this day and age, reality TV personalities count as 'stars' as well. Audrina Patridge, of the MTV reality show The Hills, joins the group.

Jennifer Grey, "Baby" in the 1987 film, Dirty Dancing, is an interesting addition to the cast. When asked if her stint on the movie with Patrick Swayze gives her an edge in this competition, she simply said it would be unfair for viewers to think that...after all, the movie was 23 years ago.

Beloved mother of 1970s Brady Bunch, Florence Henderson, will be the oldest member of the dancing cast this season.

Let's hope former Knight Rider and Baywatch star, David Hasselhoff, can stay out of trouble-at least until the Dancing with the Stars season ends. His daughters encouraged him to give it a try.

Former NFL quarterback, Kurt Warner, and former NBA champion, Rick Fox, represent the athletes in season 11's Dancing with the Stars. It's always fun to watch the athletes dance.

Singer/songwriter, Michael Bolton, most known for his soft rock ballads...and for starting and stopping his relationship with Desperate Housewives' Nicolette Sheridan...surprised me as a cast member. I'm anxious to see him put on his dancing shoes.

I have a feeling platinum recording artist, Brandy, might be the one to watch this season. Just a hunch.

We should get some laughs from Margaret Cho, the Asian-American comedian best known for her stand-up routines on race and sexuality, and her part on Lifetime TV's Drop Dead Diva.

Jersey Shore's Mike Sorrentino will be trying his hand at dancing this season as well.

Rounding out the cast as the youngest male member is actor/rapper Kyle Massey of Disney's That's So Raven fame.

Dancing with the Stars, season 11, premiers on September 20th.
