According to a Reuters report, Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon told Israel Radio that Iran "must choose between continuing to seek nuclear capability and surviving." Yaalon acknowledges that efforts thus far have postponed the time-line of Tehran achieving nuclear capabilities.
America does have the capabilities to defeat Iran if need be.
As for Israel's own military options, not much is being discussed openly. Military action by Israel would most certainly face both tactical and diplomatic challenges. But recent talk coming out of Iran about "wiping Israel off the map" should seem unsettling to anyone. Even most who see preemptive military action as immoral will agree to a country's right to defend itself.
Furthermore, many believe that if Iran should succeed in attacking the nation of Israel, the country would likely continue to be a threat to other countries - specifically the US and our allies. America is already called "the Great Satan" in most Islam-based governments. Can these governments be reasoned with? Or, might their deaths be the only feasible solution?
Self-defense is understandable. But is America a lackey for the Israeli government?
Sadly, much of this talk of war between Israel, Iran, the US, and our allies, stems from differences in "religious beliefs," and nothing more. Millions of lives are at stake over different interpretations of a "creator." Outside of "religious" differences, there are very few reasons the nations of the world don't work together, in peace, and towards prosperity for all. Let's all hope the government of Iran comes to see that, as well. Where would we all be if these talks were held without any considerations for any particular "god?"

Post a CommentI'm thinking the whole world's gone nuts Yang.
Speaking of nuts, what is "2012.121.12.12.12.12?"
Westerners & Isrealis MUST change their mentality & NOT try to change others' mentality as all isreali, nato & u.s. troops will die in iran where they plan to invade on 2012.121.12.12.12.12 with all these war rhetorics to prepare their people for an exit from afghan & entry into iran where all their troops will die there!
I just wish they'd let Israel attack Iran and be done with it. They did it before, took out a budding nuclear plant. But Israel is just one little country surrounded by enemies. I can't understand why the Mossad, which used to be the best spy agency in the world, just can infiltrate these countries and assassinate the dictators.
As well it should be kept in the forefront of one's mind that back channel diplomacy in the region has been clear - everyone in the Mideast is afraid of a nuclear Iran including most of the other Muslim nations, so this ain't just Israel and the evil US here.
Don said "asshats." Good appraisal Don. Still, if Syria, Iran, etc. would Israel alone they would not seek trouble first. History of the Mideast wars is rather clear that Israel has been attacked many, many times by their Arab neighbors. Self defense is a right we all have. Israel has been far more patient than I would have been if it had been up to me. After all, as you so accurately pointed out Iran is all for "wiping Israel off the map." Faced with such threats I would have eliminated their asses years ago - or died trying.
In my opinion, Israel is a very patient country. Not that its leaders do everything right, but as the best military and intelligence in the foreign world, they could've nuked their enemies long ago!
The sad thing is that it appears the mentality of Iran is war. I wonder if anybody there ever thinks about anything else. I can't help but think of the children who grow up with that mindset. When they become adults, do they even consider other options?
Good job! Page love to you.
I'm with Michele.
