Issues that Plague the Gay Community

Pamela Gardapee
There are three issues that plague the gay community. Gay adoption, same sex marriage and acceptance without discrimination and hate are the top issues that need to be dealt with before the world can move forward. The gay community does not have acceptance. Until people understand that what others do with their lives does not affect what they believe in, we will never see full acceptance of the gay community. Someone being gay and wanting to marriage and a family does not affect anyone else. If people do not agree with same sex orientation, they should look for something else to agree with and let others move on with their lives.

Same sex marriages are now acceptable in California and Massachusetts. This means that anyone from the other forty-eight states can travel to these states and marry. No one has the right to deny anyone that right. Marriage is a union between two people pledging their love to each other in front of family and friends. The marriage is a union that will also include children if the couple chooses. There are so many children that need homes and not enough parents or families to adopt them. The issues surrounding gay marriages and gay adoption need to end.

Children need a home that is stable. It does not mean that parents have to be a man and a woman. Parents are the ones that nurture teach, love, care and support their children. Gay couples can do this just as well as heterosexual couples. Sometimes they can do it better because they can teach their kids about acceptance. They can teach their kids about accepting everyone no matter what their sexual orientation, religion, color or race. Many heterosexual parents cannot do this. The issues are mindless when you think about it.

The gay community needs to be accepted. They need to be able to marry and adopt children. Acceptance can only come when the world stops judging people and showing hate. Discrimination against anyone should be illegal everywhere. No one should have to be denied equality. The United States is a free country where everyone has equal rights. That means that everyone including same sex couples, people of a different race and color as well as anyone no matter what their religious beliefs are. Until this happens, the United States will not be a free country with equality for everyone including the gay community.
