It Fell Upon Me to Write This Epitaph

It fell upon me to write this epitaph.
Not for me, but on someone else's behalf.
I'm writing this for Denis, whom we all thought of as riffraff.
His personality was truly one that caused you to chaff,
And yet he had a boyish grin, and like to laugh
His signature, amazingly had no paraph,
But he could create amazing art to compliment any paragraph.
And he could hook you with his barbed spirit and it's gaffe.
I see him sitting in heaven, in some plush chair, in hand - a carafe
And in his other hand, some ornate rod or staff.
He alone knew his heart, and he alone knew, he was not riffraff.
So I guess he thinks now, that Denis gets the last laugh!
