It is Here -

Brendan W Vittum
It is here -

It is here,
it is now - here
where bird and sunbeam
dance
through the underbrush
building nest
and family -

It is here,
it is now - when
grandmothers spend
pleasant mornings
cleaning yards, afternoons
preparing yachts
for summer cruisings -

It is here,
it is now - where
the mythed goldfinch
appears in the shadows
while squirrels cavort
and copulate
among the Doug Cedar's
crown -

It is here,
it is now - while
a grand father,
grand son consumed
with the splitting,
the stacking, the
endless woodpiles
of life -

It is here,
it is now - now
and the days
of the spring
blur,
fading
to summer light -

It is here,
it is now
that the world enters
into its brightness.

It is here,
it is now,
and the sun rises
Mother,
and I? I enter
my darkness.
