It is Time to Celebrate Black History Month in February of 2010

Lots of Ideas to Enjoy and Appreciate Great Black Leaders and Icons

The 2010 Black History Month is upon us and now is the time in which we focus on specific black men and women who have left legacies. Though February is the dedicated month every year in which we experience Black History Month, we can certainly appreciate black leaders, actors and cultural icons all year long.

According to Wikipedia, Black History Month occurs in February because this is the month in which Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were born. The month of February is a great month, of course, but you can certainly acknowledge the lives of famous black leaders all year long.

How about Malcolm X for starters? You can bet he was one of the most controversial black leaders of all time, and also one of the most powerful and charismatic. Find out more about him at Wikipedia.

More contemporary, you better spend some time contemplating Oprah Winfrey, one of the most powerful black celebrities in the history of the planet. Head on over to Oprah.com for a lot of tips on living and loving and becoming stronger and more interesting.

Who is the most powerful single person in the world right now? You guessed correctly, a black man. It is Barack Obama, the current President of the United States of America. Find out more about him over at whitehouse.gov.

There are lots of resources on the internet where you can find a whole lot of information on famous black leaders.

First, head on over to biography.com where you can get a ton of information on people like Jackie Robinson, Rose Parks and Michelle Obama. Another great online resource is history.com which has lots of information on some wonderful black people in history.

What if you want to dress up as a famous black person throughout February or even during Halloween in 2010? Well, that is not a problem because there are lots of places online that sell costumes and outfits to help you celebrate.

One suggestion is to dress up as actor Don Cheadle's most famous role of 2010, that of the character War Machine in the movie "Iron Man 2." You can watch the trailer for "Iron Man 2" at this link.
