It was Long Ago.

Part 1

Julie Wimmer
It was long ago she felt this way,
sad and shy and alone;
it happened for more than just one day,
until she wound up back at home.

Uncertainty pressured her and loomed,
keeping her away and out of site,
for this mess could not be swept away with a broom
until, she was able to finally let in some light.

She, of course, wanted to really only blame him,
that would make her feel so much better,
however, she knew those chances were oh so slim
as she wrote down her feelings in a long letter.

The blame was really all hers she saw,
she let him in with every breath she had,
and had no idea the feelings would be so raw
when she found out how often he could make her sad.

When she finally, unhappily chose to leave,
her heart ached so much making her sick,
but her head and choice she had to believe
so she got out before it got too thick.

I read part 2 before part 1; both poems were really good. I once broke up with someone because he was a hard partier and I was not at all. He was very sweet and I cared about him a lot, but we just didn't mesh in that regard. I really broke his heart and it still makes me feel bad that I had to do that, but we have to do what we have to do. I am happy with my husband now.

What a perplexing situation for this poor girl, who thought the answers were right but turned out to be wrong. Good writing!
