We bend it
We break it
Use it and abuse it
Some hide from it
While others search for it earnestly
Many say it's lost, no longer existing
A few have come up with their own version
What it is to one may be different for another
Many fear it and it's implications
It can be the basis for building something as great as a nation
A bond that brings those that would never associate together
In the same instance it can be the cause of separation
Bring remorse, judgment and condemnation
It has the power to change everything you believe in
Liberate those held captive erroneously
It lies deep within every individual even if unacknowledged
Sometimes buried or repressed by those not wanting to remember
It cuts like a knife dividing those who stand on each side of it
Some don't have the fortitude to stomach it
Others lack the nerve to articulate it
Regardless it exists and doesn't back down
If we embrace it, face it, accept it, will it set us free
As time comes and goes it will always remain
The truth stands alone and unchanged
We break it
Use it and abuse it
Some hide from it
While others search for it earnestly
Many say it's lost, no longer existing
A few have come up with their own version
What it is to one may be different for another
Many fear it and it's implications
