Las Vegas is one of the gourmet food capitals of the world. Many of the hotel properties higher chefs direct from the countries from which the foods originate. Such is the case with the Italian restaurant in Las Vegas, which offer anything from Americanized Italian dishes to Italian dishes with a splash of Mediterranean thrown in. Look at what is offer for Italian food connoisseurs.

Onda

Onda is an Italian restaurant that puts a Mediterranean twist onto their menu. The menu features vegetables that are indigenous to Italy and the Mediterranean. A favorite on the menu is the gorgonzola cheese breadsticks, which is some of the best I have had. Main courses on the menu range from $18 to $43. The restaurant is located within The Mirage Hotel at 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109. The restaurant is open daily from 5p - 11p. Reservations are recommended, contact the establishment at 1.866.339.4566 or online.

Circo

Circo is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant within the Bellagio Hotel at 3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Mind you, that at the decor is a bit bright, but its purpose is to remind you of a circus theme. As for the menu, it contains many items that are available in an appetizer size. This size is enough to satisfy an average person's appetite. This is not the standard Italian restaurant as breast of duck is one of the various menu items. The main courses range from $14-$45. The restaurant is open daily from 5 pm to 10:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended and available by contacting the establishment at 702.693.8150.

Antonio's Italian Ristorante

Antonio's is off the beaten path. This means it is one of the Italian restaurants not located on the Las Vegas strip. This restaurant is seafood different from the norm. It offers patio seating, which is a good choice throughout most evenings in the city in the desert. Try the rack of lamb or the Chilean sea bass. Prices range from $16-$48. This restaurant is located at the Rio Hotel and Casino at 3700 W. Flamingo Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89103. Hours of operation are Sunday to Thursday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday through Saturday 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. For reservations, please call 702.777.7923.

Corsa Cucina

Back on the Las Vegas strip inside of the newest properties, the Wynn Las Vegas is Corsa Cucina. Much like the property itself, the restaurant offers an exquisite and well-priced menu. The dishes served a Mediterranean influenced and the pizzas cooked in the wood-fired stove are great. One of the best in the way of their pastas is the Fra Diablo shrimp pasta. Main courses start at $25 and go up to $48. The restaurant is located at 3131 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Hours of operation are daily from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. For reservations, please call 1.888.352.DINE.

Valentino

The hotel inspired by the architecture of Venice, the Venetian houses Valentino. The restaurant offers a mishmash of the Italian themed dishes. Many of them are very different from what you would normally find an Italian restaurant such as the snail stuffed quail. However, they do offer some items not to be missed such as the shuffle cream sauce topped four cheese ravioli. Main courses range from $15-$42. The restaurant is located at 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. For reservations call 702.414.3000 or visit them online.

Canaletto's

Another great place within the Venetian is Canaletto's. Though many may think that the restaurant is only open for dinner as are many of the other restaurants, lunch is also available. However, this is a great place to grab lunch or dinner. The pastas that are served here are great! Try the cannelloni de pollo or for a non-pasta dish try the calzone. Prices range from $14-$36 for main courses. I was of operation or Sunday through Thursday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. The restaurant is located at 3377 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV 89109. For reservations call 702.733.0700 or visit their website.

Rao's

Rao's located in Caesars Palace is a branch of the original New York restaurant opened since 1896. The original location is so popular that with only 11 tables and 1 seating time, there is over a yearlong wait for a reservation. It has even been said that former President Bill Clinton could not get his own table and had to share with someone else. That is just how good the food is. Main courses range in price from $12-$63. The hours of operation are for breakfast 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily, and for dinner at 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly. The restaurant is located at 3570 Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109. Terra Rossa Italian Restaurant

Terra Rossa is located within the Red Rock Hotel, just off the Las Vegas strip. The lasagna and gnocchi are beyond description as are many of the other items on the menu. Prices range from $13-$48 for the main course, with their very soups and salads available at under $12. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday. The address for the restaurant is 11011 West Charleston, Las Vegas, NV 89135.
