Back in the kitchen its time for their second Quick Fire and their guest judge was Todd English. A craps table was sitting in front of them when they entered and the chefs has to roll a dice. The number they receive would be the number of ingredients they can work with. Not only would luck play a role again, but it was another high stakes Quickfire and they could win $15,000. It was then time to roll the dice. Kevin, the winner last round, was first and was not happen with his 10 ingredients. Everyone followed and seemed to be getting around 6 and 9 ingredients. Laurine rolled the lowest rolled was 3, not too bad but the plan was simplicity.
It was then time for Todd and Padma to taste. They didn't really have any amazing or bad reviews during their tasting. Ashley and Bryan's stood out, being that their meat was rare. Guess we know who won't be winning! In the end Todd English got to choose who was the worst and who was the best. Jesse was once again in the bottom along with Ev and Bryan. What no Ashley? Mike, Jenn and Kevin took the top spots with Mike B getting the win, immunity and the $15,000. His brother wasn't too happy considering he was in the bottom while Mike won, guess they really do have sibling rivalry!
Following the Quick Fire it was time for their second Elimination challenge: the bachelor and baccalaureate party! With that it was battle of the sexes with the women vs the men. They would be catering for the opposite sex party with the winning team gaining immunity and the losing team sending someone home. Many weren't happy about the situation, especially the ladies of the show. In come bride and groom carrying three different types of shots. They wanted foods that went with the flavored shots while the bride had a lot of restrictions. The groom wanted more seafood and Asian dishes, giving a more to the point description of the dishes he wanted.
Off in Whole Foods the two sides got spending and the ladies wanted to go with familar foods that the guys would like. The guys on the other hand ran around looking to have unique foods that fit the broad scope of the Bride's wishes. Back in the Top Chef kitchen they had two hours to prep so they went to work. The women all had differeing shots and with Ashley's negative towards the challenge she tried to be more happy about things. The guys weren't too concerned about the ladies but wanted to impress the ladies at the party. More brother talk came up as they once again talked about beating each other. We get the point.... you don't have to tell us every five minutes that there are brothers on the show and they really want to beat each other. Before the segment ended there was some more drama with Ashley as she wanted to make two dishes, one sweet and one fishy. Jenn didn't like the idea but hey, Ashley wanted to impress.
Later that night Ashley was still upset about the situation as she is a lesbian and feels upset that she is part of a ceremony that she is not able to take part of. Preeti understood her frustration but just didn't feel the same as her. Things then switched to the next day where they had to set up and serve their dishes on location. The guys were worried about the heat and chose to make some of their dishes on site while the ladies felt confident overall. It was then time for the parties to start and while the ladies fed their guys, the guys flirted with the bride's friends. Well at least Mattin did, after preparing his dish first of course! The judges then arrived and reviewed the ladies first. Eve's dish was a repeat of last time while Jenn also repeated by having another great dish. For once Jesse seemed to have a hit as the guys came back for more, but the judges didn't agree. Preeti also took a hit as the sun hurt her food while Ashely's one dish was good while the other hurt her.
It was then time to head over to the men's side of the pool and Kevin proved to once again have a hit while Mike B also proved good as his apple sorbet was loved by all. Hector's dish was loved by Gail while brother Bryan finally had a good review, but will it be better then Mike? Oh Gail... did you HAVE to mention a brother's head to head? Like we didn't know that was coming! Eli, whoever he is, had a hit while Mattin didn't make sense to anyone while the chicken wing of..... not sure, was another huge hit. It was then for some fun as the guys jumped into the pool, which the girls actually didn't like. Some of the guys didn't either but they were all happy after tasting all those shots all day long.
Back at judge's table it was time to learn which team won and which team lost. Bryan, Hector, Eli and Michael were called out first which didn't really tell us anything. It was then revealed that they were the winning team, meaning a lady would be sent home but the guys would be safe and those four were the best. Eli has great reviews from all the judges, especially Gail. Michael's sorbet was "knocked out of the park" while Hector's tofu tasted the best. Bryan's dish, as usual, was also well liked but the brotherly battle ended up with Bryan winning this one. Letting both brothers take home a win this episode and showing that my new pet peeve of the season will be every-time the word "brother" is mentioned.
Although the guys had good news they had to send Jesse, Preeti, Eve and Ashley to the judge's table, meaning one of them would be leaving. All four have been good so far this season, and I actually know their names so I'm somewhat sad that one of them would be leaving. Jesse's dish didn't have the flavor the judges were looking for and her tears poured out yet again. Eve's dish wasn't balanced and she couldn't back up her dish, at least that's what Tom's face said. Preeti was up next and seemed to feel her dish tasted good but Padma disagreed and said both the taste and presentation was off. Ashley's review was last and her doing two dishes was brought up. She knew why she was in the bottom four and bashed her one dish. It isn't clear which will be going home but in the end another lady will bite the dust. Eve was selected to leave meaning she won't be the Arian of this season, she had potential but at least crying Jessie lives to cook another day!
