It's Cullen Baker Fair Time in Bloomburg, Texas

The Biggest Little Fair in Texas is Back, Just in Time for Holday Gift-Giving

Mona Rigdon
Each year, the Biggest Little Fair in Texas brings vendors from across the country to the little town of Bloomburg, Texas. Less than forty minutes from Texarkana, the Cullen Baker Fair offers big fun from a tiny town. This year, Saturday, November 1, will mark the traditional gathering of craftsmen, salesmen, and food vendors that is attended by throngs of locals and out-of-towners alike. Here is what this year's fair has to offer:

Entertainment

What fair would be fun without a parade to kick it off? The Cullen Baker Fair will start it's parade at 10:00 a.m. Parade route information is available on the web site. This year the Oaklawn Opry is one of the many groups that will be performing during the fair. Other groups include Framed, Edge of Texas, Colton ONeil Band, and Nighthawk. The music starts at 9:00 a.m on the stage by the Coutry Store. Don't forget the Little Mr. and Miss Contest at 1:30 p.m., where cute kids from 3-8 will dazzle you with their finest pageant smiles!

Food

Southern food fare will be available, from corn dogs to onion rings, and barbecue to more exquisite and imaginative cuisine. Be prepared to be surprised, and satisfied. Food vendors will be on the South side of Bloomburg Food.

Artisans

With countless crafters, carpenters, and blacksmiths selling their creations, few people will leave the fair without at least one Christmas gift or decoration for their own home. Check out newcomer 5 Monkeys Gift Shop's booth for an eclectic mix of fun and elegant gifts, decorations, jewelry, and face paiting for the kids! Don't forget to ask about free gift cards, as well from owner Sandra Mosley.

FREE!

There is not cost to get into the fair, park for the fair, or to use restroom facilities. Familes - feel free to bring your kids to this fun family atomosphere. There are no alcholic beverages allowed at the fair. Everything is also wheelchair accessible.

Last year the Cullen Baker Fair raised over $13,000 for causes such as the volunteer fire department. Bring your kids, register to win the handmade quilt to be given out at 4:30 pm, and enjoy a country-fair good time. The hustle and bustle of life will still be waiting when you get home.

This sounds fun and interesting. I live in Garland, Texas which is in Dallas County. Dallas hosts the annual State Fair of Texas. Very nice to hear from another Texan!
