Its Easier Than You Think to Make Creative Designs for Quilled Greeting Cards

The reason why quilled greeting cards are really special is because of the unique artwork that is used in making them. It is mostly given to special people, and the person who receives can enhance the beauty by putting the card in frame so that coming generations may be able to view it.

If the quilled card is to be framed, then good quality cardstock has to be used with colors that complement the card. One may want to use vellum or some foil as the front panel so that the quilling can be accented.

Rubber stamps can be used to print greetings or one can decide to try a variety of paints and inks. If you want a dark and clean imprint, then it would be good to use Jet Black ink on the rubber stamp.

When you need to attach the quilled pieces on the card, it would be good to use clear drying glue in small dabs. Ensure that every piece is well pasted on the card so that it becomes easier for framing the card if need be.

Now, to make a basic card using quilled shapes, one would need tweezers, brushes, pens, scissors, a rubber stamp of one's choice and something to help in application of glue to the pieces to be fixed.

First, decide on the card size. After this, decide on the quilled shapes that you would like to choose and come up with a design for the overall card. It would not hurt putting the design on a piece of paper to have a general idea. This will act as a guideline in making the card as you would want it to be.

This is then followed by making a decision on the print one would want to use: freehand or stamp. To know the one that best works, one can try both types of prints on some piece of paper so that they can get the desired effect. Once you attain that, go ahead and make the final printing on the cardstock and allow for drying.

The quillings are now ready to be applied. Use the tools discussed about earlier to place the quilled shapes on the cardstock. Make sure each shape is glued properly. After transferring all shapes, let the whole card dry properly. Do not move the card until you ensure all quilled shapes have set properly.

Once completely dry, you can now show everyone your beautiful quilled greeting card!
