It's Funny..

Bob Johnson
Between work-related stuff, which has taken far more time than is convenient, and non-work related stuff, which has taken up far more time than I had planned on, topped off by the early arrival of winter, I have found myself in a somewhat sour mood.

Television has left me cold. Things that I would, under normal circumstances, find to be at least mildly amusing, seemed simply inane. When I read the news I can usually find some articles that leave me with a sense of wonder about the human race. While the articles themselves are, in and of themselves, not newsworthy, the behavior of people and the tragic things that they do to themselves with cars, power tools and kitchen utensils can usually bring a ghoulish but satisfied smile to my face.

The shenanigans of the rich and famous? George Bush's attempts to speak English? They should have been a riot . Instead, I found myself reading these things and thinking, "Stupid". And, not funny. I didn't even laugh at Mitt Romney's name this week. All I could think was "What a sad childhood he must have had."

And then, at about 5:00 this morning, as I was rolling over to get more comfortable, the funniest thing in the world ran through my head, and I knew that I had the problem licked. We're not just talking funny here, we're talking about world-class, make-you-pee-a-little funniest thing ever funny. The kind of funny that wakes you up from a sound sleep and leaves you laughing in bed like some kind of demented idiot, waking up the wife and scaring the cat.

The problem is that it was moving so fast that I couldn't catch it. Nothing I did would allow me to remember this incredibly hilarious idea that I was going to share with all of you. It had something to do with percentages, so if any of you know any really killer percentage jokes that leave you rolling in the aisles, please drop me a line and jog my memory.

It's funny how the human mind works.
