"It's Hard Out Here for a Blimp!"

South Carolina's Proposed Fat-Tax Really Takes the Cake!

Greg Inman
Maybe you haven't heard this, but South Carolina's Senator Greg Ryberg, wants to make state employees who 'belly-up' to the dinner table a little too much...OK, maybe a whole lot 'to much,' pay a monthly fee.

What's next, a 'short people tax?' A 'bald headed fee?' Here's an idea, what about charging celebrities for bad plastic surgery? Now there is a law we can live with, and they can afford it. "Hey Mark Burnett, here's your next big reality show right here, and hey, don't forget my royalties! It was my idea after all."

Seriously folks, the proposed bill would end up costing the unfortunate Statee around $25.00 extra a month on their health plan. Personally, I'm a little worried here. I mean, what if this ends up being a Pandora's box crammed full of new ways to bilk American's out of more money. Where does it stop?

The introduction of euthanasia and abortion in Hitler's Germany probably sounded like a good idea at the time, I mean, who wants to see old people suffer? Or, maybe a baby for Helga at this point in her life would be really inconvenient right now. But just a few years down-the-shunpike, look what happened. We already have abortion clinics killing babies by the millions, and yes they are baby human beings in the womb! Want proof? Why is it legal to kill a pregnant woman's baby, and on the flip side of that coin, charge the convicted killer for double-homicide-her and her unborn baby, equals two. It's the double standard I'm worried about with this proposed bill, which, by the way, is before the House of Representatives as we speak. Or, as I type and you read...whatever.

What happens when, down the road a little, maybe ten, twenty years..now your 'august' State or maybe now, Federal Government, wants a pinch more. 'In for a penny, in for a pound' right?' Now they want to impose laws where if you don't loose say eighty five pounds within the next 9 months, "we cut off one testicle." One nut down, one to go. The nice friendly people over at SLOB-State Legislated Obesity Bureau-will sincerely give you another three months to loose it or 'loose it! But, you have an undetected hormonal imbalance, or maybe thyroid condition, and no matter how much you've tried, you cannot shed that last 50 pounds. Waack! Testes for the man, ovaries for the woman.

Granted, you really didn't want any more children anyways, but do you want the option to have a child taken away? Forever? "Oh", they'll tell you, "it's really quite painless and besides remember when we passed that law back when...well, you didn't say anything then did you?" And here is the crux of the whole deal right here. Listen for it... here it comes..."What makes you think you have a say now!" As they manhandle you onto the gurney, handcuffed and humiliated, off to the State-run hospital's operating room.

In conclusion, a wise man once said "An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind." "My fellow Americans, we are not the enemy, we are your friends." the politburo tells you, and even more poignant here by another wizened sage, "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Every new law signed into history, is another bar for the cage that your children will be imprisoned within. Think about it. Better yet, do something about it! Now, before it's too late!

I was born and raised in a country setting in Florida. Raised horses, hunted snakes, and ran deer. Always wanted to write, but didn't think I was good enough to get published. Forever grateful, AC proved me...  View profile
