It's like Eating Cardboard: Soyjoy Baked Whole Soy & Fruit Bar

Susan Slade

I believe I received a Soyjoy Baked Whole Soy and Fruit Bar as a sample. I have had it for about 3 weeks now, and was in a real hurry to get to Core Boxing Class today. I took a bottle of water, and the Soyjoy bar with me.

We had a really intense workout, and after it I walked to my vehicle. I felt a little shaky so opened my purse, and took out the bar. I tore off one end of the Soyjoy bar, and couldn't believe how small the bar was. It was three quarters of an inch across, half an inch in depth, and I am not sure how long it was, as I had to take a bite of it. All I know is that it is a lot smaller than most of the bars I have, to give me back energy.

The flavor I had was Banana. I bit into it, and it was a little on the hard side, and dry. I chewed it, and could taste the banana, and saw a tiny bit of raisin. The rest of it could have been stale bread, or cake. I was so hungry that I finished the bar, and thought about what else I could eat. Well I didn't have anything else with me, so I drove home.

The Soyjoy Baked Whole Soy and Fruit Bar has a net weight of 1.05 ounce (30 g.), which tells you how small it is. The packaging looks really inviting. It is metallic silver with a yellow area, for Soyjoy to be displayed. Then it shows a piece of the bar, followed by a bunch of bananas. From this marketing, it makes you want to try the product.

When I got home I had a piece of dried coconut in my teeth, so I knew that was in the bar. Here is a list of the ingredients:

"Ground Whole Soybeans, Raisin, Dried Banana, Butter, Sugar, Egg, Dried Pineapple, Dried Coconut, Maltodextrin (natural fiber source), Corn Starch, Salt, Banana Flavor with Other Natural Flavors. Contains: Milk."

I was at a loss, to find words to say how bad this bar is, so I went onto their website. This is what they think of their bar:

"Who can resist the taste of freshly baked banana bread? Peel open the sensational Banana SOYJOY and indulge yourself. We bake real bananas with ground whole soybeans to create a delicious, healthy snack to have with you for whatever life throws your way."

I love freshly baked banana bread, and how they can compare this bar to it, I have no idea. I even checked the packaging to make sure that it wasn't punctured, and that is why mine was stale. No it wasn't.

It is a real shame that I won't be trying any of the Soyjoy products because this bar contains, 130 calories, no trans fats, no Artificial Colors, Flavors, Hydrogenated Oils or Gluten.

If you really want to try a bar then here are the nutritional facts:
