It's Never too Late to Get Your High School Diploma

Brian Cote
It seems these days it's getting harder and harder to find a job that will allow your to provide care for yourself and your family. With the unemployment rates skyrocketing there are more people than ever looking for gainful employment. Having worked in a position that allowed me to hire new members of my team I can say that even for entry level jobs the lack of a high school diploma can really shut a lot of doors very fast. I live in a city that has just about as many high school drop outs as it has graduates. These people who never graduated need to be able to care for their family, but what can they do? They can get their diploma.

Of course there are state tests that you can take that will give you a little piece of paper that says you didn't graduate, but you know just as much as a graduate. Your GED. I have nothing against the GED test. It shows a Human Resources manager that you have taken the time to prove that you are able to do the same work as someone who graduated high school. I do however much prefer receiving an actual diploma to the GED. Most states will allow you to go back to school as long as your under the age of 21. Well what if your over the age of 21, are you just stuck with the GED? No.

There are a few great schools out there that will issue an actual high school diploma to adult students. The first is the school of the stars. The American School of Correspondence. I call it the school of the stars because a large number of celebrities went to this school as they were trying to start their careers. Stars like Jessica Alba, and Anna Kournikova. The American School is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and schools (NCA), The Illinois State Board of Education, as well as the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). The most important thing to look into when considering going back to school is accreditation. You basically want to make sure that the diploma that you are spending your time and money on is worth more than the paper that its printed on. With the above accreditation, especially the state board, this means that this school is looked at as every other school in the state. You can even continue past high school studies and take classes at a University with a diploma from the American School of Correspondence. So, how much does it cost? I'm not going to lie to you its not cheap. Your looking at spending between $400 and $500 per year of school that you are missing. They do however have an interest free payment plan that starts out at only $50 down and $50 per month. Now believe me I know how much that it, but I would not have written about the school if I did not believe in it.

For those who just simply don't have that kind of money laying around but are tired of missing out on jobs because of their lack of a diploma I have another great option. I decided that I wanted to find the most economical way to earn a diploma from home, and I believe that I have found it. Its called Excel High School. Excel is accredited by the Louisiana and Florida Department of Education, The National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance, and even the NCAA. They have what is called an HSED. Basically this is a regular High School Diploma. You diploma in fact looks no different that the diploma that they offer to their regular high school students. The only difference is if you are applying with the military they look at the school as a tier 2 school as opposed to a tier one school. So in the US Military's eyes you got a GED. You can still go to college, and you will no longer be turned down for employment due to your lack of having a diploma. What I like the most about this school is that you can actually earn your diploma in 2-6 weeks all online or through the mail. And yes this is a real diploma! The full cost of a diploma through excel is $299, and they of course have payment plans available. This school has helped so many students to continue their education, I give them 5 out of 5 stars.

Whereever you decide to go to get your high school diploma just take this little bit of advice. Make sure that you go to an accredited school. And avoid the diploma mills. Do your research and really listen to what the students of the school are saying. Even take a look at the schools BBB listing, and see if people are satisfied with the education they received. Remember that with the right education all things are possible.
