Giving thanks for the simplest things
I wonder when my efforts will be noticed
I see how you are with friends and strangers
Always understanding, generous and kind
I long for such consideration to be mine
You are known to give others the benefit of the doubt
Even when they stab you in the back
But my love has yet to receive such benefits
I wish I was them
I would rather be others
Even a stranger would be nice
Maybe I would receive warmth instead of ice
