It's Not Enough
A Poem
It's not enough to just take pictures
of the places you have been
in the hopes that you will remember the good times
It's not enough to recount the stories
in a book of memories
It's not enough to promise to keep in touch
and to just hug one another goodbye
How do you not want to go on seeing each other
when you've sat side by side for years
how do you say that it's okay that people are gone from your life
It's not enough to simply say that you will miss someone
when it's time to go
but sometimes it seems that it's all you can do
of the places you have been
