It’s Okay to Say “Merry Christmas” Virginia

Virginia was a smart little girl with big blue eyes and curly red hair, but Virginia was no ordinary little girl, no, she was much more than that, she was one of Jesus little Lambs!

As one of Jesus Lambs, Virginia knew what Christmas was all about. Knowing what Christmas was all about, Virginia was very confused about all the fuss going on down at the local five and dime. Why were the store owners telling all the workers not to say "Merry Christmas"? They were saying that it was a bad thing to say "Merry Christmas", but why Virginia wanted to know, why was everyone refusing to say Merry Christmas? After all it was Jesus birthday! Were they ashamed of Jesus?

This new way of greeting folks at the store during Christmas, not only had Virginia confused, but also very hurt. Why was this happening? What did Jesus do wrong? He was born to save us all from our sins and to show us the way of the Father and how to get to Heaven. So why could the store people not tell everyone a Merry Christmas? They were told to say, "Happy Holidays"! What have holidays done for us that Jesus has not? Nothing I know of!

Finally Virginia could take it no more, she went and asked her mother, "Mom, why has all the workers at the five and dime stopped saying, "Merry Christmas"? Well Virginia, her mother said, it is because there are people who do not believe in Jesus and because they do not believe, they do not feel we should say Merry Christmas. In fact, most of these folks take offense and feel we are hurting them when we wish them a Merry Christmas. I feel this is God convicting their hearts and souls and it truly does hurt them. At these times we must pray for them, but at the same time we must NEVER EVER forget that it IS okay to say Merry Christmas Virginia, because you are doing it out of love for our Lord Jesus Christ. If it were not for Him, there would be no Christmas for anyone dear!

Little Virginia was pleased with her mother's answer and made it her job to be sure and say "Merry Christmas" to every person she encountered from that day on at Christmas time. She never stopped either, even as an old woman, she told this story to her grandchildren in hopes they to, would go into the world and share their love of Jesus with every person they saw!

This story was made up from the contributors imagination, any similarity to an actual person or event, is merely coincidental.
