It's President Barack Obama's Birthday, so Let Him Eat Cake

Rochelle Connery
Yesterday, President Barack Obama's visage graced Obama Joker posters and Obama Joker pictures from LA to Atlanta. Today, he's celebrating his 48th birthday as the 44th president of the United States. All I can say is, let him eat cake.

I can't help but wish Obama a happy birthday with a German accent. As an avid fan of Hogan's Heroes (yes, I watch them on DVD, I wasn't born for them back in the day), all that comes to mind is Major Keitel's exclamation of "Happy Berthshday, Adolf???!!" over the phone as Hogan's horde devised another plot against the German Fatherland. Considering his recent coming-out as a Socialist (via a rather ingenious artist), I thought the inference was appropriate.

So how is President Obama spending our tax dollars for his birthday? Well, he evidently took some friends and colleagues down to Camp David for the weekend, where he struck gold while bowling. Evidently he didn't want to repeat his Pennsylvania debacle on his own birthday.

But enough fun and games. Today, the president is attending several meetings, briefings... the usual gamut. Then he joins VP Joe Biden at a lunch meeting with the Senate Democratic Caucus. Later this afternoon, it looks like he'll be meeting with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Sound like fun?

Well, hopefully as the United States president, Obama doesn't have his focus on fun. Although, maybe it would be good for him to turn his thoughts to something else for a while; it might give our tax dollars a much-needed holiday if he's not planning programs of all various sorts.

So I just have to pose the question, how do we know this is Obama's real birthday? I'm still not sold on all that I-was-born-in-Hawaii- why-bother-looking-into-my-birth-certificate stuff. Well, I guess the guy's gotta have a birthday at some point; today's just as good a day as any to have it.

So how can you help Obama celebrate his birthday? Perhaps by baking a cake with the Obama Joker picture gracing the top. That's probably what I would be doing if I weren't, well, so busy doing other things today.

So if you voted for Obama (or if you're still admitting to doing it), go on and give him some cheers. If you didn't vote for Obama, I suggest we hope he doesn't have seven more birthdays in the White House. Did I say "hope?" Whoops.

And are we going to rip into Obama everytime he does something in his personal life? Come on. Every president has vacationed in August, celebrated his birthday, etc. If you want to criticize him, research the policies you disagree with and criticize something serious!

I can't remember, but maybe you can. Were posters such as those described in another article of yours tolerated during Bush's presidency?

How this is news, i don't know. There is mass genocide going on around the world and Obama's birthday is more important? I like how you bring to light our hypocrisies in this nation.
