It's raining mice at my job. No, really it is. Since I've come into work this morning, three of the little bastards have fallen from the ceiling, two landing in a garbage can and one landing a few feet from me onto the floor. Don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of mice but it is a little disconcerting when you have to worry about a foreign creature landing on your head or god forbid into your coffee. Kind of gives me the heebee jeebees and I think most people would agree with me. I love animals, but unfortunately the guys that work for me don't feel the same way toward mice. When I discovered the two in the garbage can I quickly grabbed the can, being sure to hold it away from my body (Not that I'm afraid of them) and took it outside and let them loose onto the streets of this city I work in. If it was up to my workers they would've wound up in the dumpster or worse. My workers of course made the comments that they'll just find their way back into the building and I'll be doing the same thing tomorrow. Yes, they are rodents and yes they do tend to leave turds on my desk overnight in their desperate search for crumbs, and yeah there was that one time where I jumped on my chair and yelped in terror when I saw one coming at me, but that's all beside the point. I can't bring myself to slaughter them. I don't mind that they are in the building, I just don't want them anywhere near me (I'm not afraid of them!) and I don't want to see them. Besides, I think I would miss the little pitter patter of their feet in the ceiling while I work. It's kind of comforting.

Post a CommentYikes! Well, mice in the barn are OK, I guess, but they had better not enter the house or office. Of course, our ferocious attack kitty is on the job, all the time. No "eeks!" around here. ;-)
