It's Raining Pigs! Encourage Your Kids

Cassie Mae

My three children see me typing away on my laptop a lot. I love writing. I live to write! I swear it has always been in my blood.

Well, now I do believe I have passed it onto my children. At age five the redheaded twin wrote a book. He stapled it together and even illustrated the book. He used to speak of becoming an illustrator. He saw the job explained on a tv show. Then asked me questions. He swore that was going to be his job. "I can do that!"

This past Sunday my brown-haired twin wrote a story. He is in first grade and the age of seven. He wants to see what it is like to have it submitted to Associated Content and get comments! I was proud he wrote this. It took him a few hours on Sunday as he printed it neatly by hand. Some words he asked me to spell. Other words I left misspelled for you to read. I was napping and he didn't want to wake me up to get the correct spelling. Awww!

This shy young boy took his story to school and wanted to read it to his class! I was amazed! I was going to ask the teacher if it was okay if he said the 'p' word. Well, he's still debating if he will read the story to the class. Nevertheless, my husband and I are proud of him taking the time to use his imagination and doing a wonderful job at printing. He's still learning as you will see his sentence structure needs work!

Encourage your kids. Let them be who they are meant to be.

Now for the story!

It is Raining Pigs Outside!

There is raining pigs outside. I want to keep one. Then I ask my mom and dad she said no. She said no because it will poop (the 'p' word!) in the house. Then I asked my dad and he said no because it will eat all of "are" popcorn and ice cream. Then I went outside, sneeked through the hallway, then I went down the stairs, then I went out the door there was millions!

Of pigs. Then a pig "laned" on my head. Then I caught a baby pig. Then I went in the house then my mom and dad saw me and they looked at the pig and they said what a cute pig. Then I put the pig on the ground and mom and dad said no! no! no! But it was to late then the pig was chasing Sophie and Sam. (Our dog and cat.)

Then the pig got a umbrella and sunscreen and a blanket and glasses and went outside in "are" yard and "puted" the blanket down and puted the glasses on and puted sunscreen.

Then the pig ate his glasses and his sunscreen and his umbrella! Then the pig went in the house and the pig was chasing Sophie and Sam. Then the pig broke a vase. Then mom and dad "herd" the vase fall. Then mom and dad were chasing the pig and the pig was fast. Then the pig crashed into the freezer. Then the pig jumped in the freezer! And he was eating ice cream and he ate the whole box in 1:00 (one minute). Then the pig pooped in the freezer. Then mom and dad got the pig out of the freezer.

Mom and dad called the farmer. And the farmer said yes. And the farmer had trouble."

Your children are paying attention to what you are doing. Always keep that in the back of your mind.

Enjoy your wonderful gifts!

Great story Troy! I think having a pig for a pet would be great, especially one who loved ice cream!

I love this! My ten year old definitely takes after me and uses Wordpad to write story after story. It is such a joy to see your child develop a love for what fulfills you the most. Thank you for sharing this!!!

Precious & precocious, Cassandra (smile)... There is a connection between imagination and reality, there. Maybe you could do a collection of works (your sons and you); maybe your husband could do the forward... Cool, neat, and wonderful! All the Best, Michael
