In the meantime my son woke up and he and his sister were playing as if nothing had happened so I was pretty sure it was just a fluke and she'd be fine. Then she came in and sat on my bed and was very still for a few minutes and I knew she was going to be sick again. Well, apparently a 24 hour stomach virus had come to visit. It was awful. Every single time she took a drink of something or tried to eat it came back up. We'd get all excited thinking it was going to stay down and up it would come. She was very upset because she was so thirsty, but at this point I really didn't want her drinking because I knew what was going to happen. I was so thankful that her brother wasn't sick and seemed to be doing fine.
I finally broke down and called the Dr. to see what she suggested. She said it was a stomach virus that just had to work it's way out. Basically there was nothing to do other then watch her get sick until it was out of her system. It's not easy to watch your four year old get sick time and time again. She was such a great sport even though all of this was going on. The Dr. also mentioned it was very contagious and the rest of us would probably catch it as well. I was hopeful that this would not happen.
In between taking care of my daughter I got my son ready to go to the gym with his dad once he got home. He was dressed and ready to go and said he didn't feel good. He went into the bathroom and sat for a minute and then said he must have been wrong about feeling sick. I said I'd get him some sprite if he wanted to go sit in the bathroom for a few minutes to be sure. I no sooner then got the cap of the sprite and I heard him getting sick. He didn't make it five feet down the hallway. I felt awful for him. You could tell her was upset about getting sick in the hallway and it had gotten on him too. So I got him and the floor all cleaned up and got him settled in for a long evening. He had watched his sister all day so he knew what was going to happen for the next several hours.
So from about 5:30-11pm we had two kids constantly getting sick. It was a horrible thing to watch. There wasn't a thing we could do for them. They were so thirsty and looked so miserable and all we could do was be there for them. That was rough for me because as a mother we always want to make our kids feel better when they are hurt or sick. Knowing I couldn't do that didn't feel so great.
Thankfully both children woke up today completely fine! They are back to their normal selves which is nice. And best of all, my husband and I didn't catch it so we are done with all that I hope!
