Its that Time

Benjamin Harrell
The day is coming were some can relate
Post card on the table reads save the date
Hesitation becomes anticipation as days turn
Planning is a lifestyle as I just learned
I often wondered when this day would come
Look at me, sitting still and not on the run
Voted least likely to settle down
Yet I helped choose the colors turquoise and brown
Just think, feelings ushered our lives this far
And I followed your lead like a shooting star
Some call this event the end of days I call it the beginning of new ways
Till death to us part sounds like a horror movie
But its the life we will share that moves me
Almost to "I do" and my body feels relief I'm glad I wore thick socks for my cold feet
