It's Time to Get Motivated

I was reading Anthony Robbins book Awakening the Giant Within. In this book there is an exercise that asks one to think about life 10 years ago. In the year 2000 President Bush was elected president, the top grossing film was How the Grinch Stole Christmas. American Beauty won five academy awards, Santana's Album Supernatural won nine Grammys. Our world was in a new millennium with the country in total worry about Y2K.

Next, we are asked to subtract 10 years from your life. Who were you 10 years ago? Who were you dating? Where did you live in 2000? Question... If somebody sat you down in your living room in 2000 and asked you where would your life be in 10 years, does your life today resemble where you thought you would be by now? Have you accomplished by 2010 what you thought you would have accomplished by now?

A decade has passed friends. And the hard fact is: the way we have been living our lives; such as our daily habits, and our focus - for the past 10 years has us where we are today. Friends, if we don't take control of our time, set some goals, with deadlines, write out a plan for our lives the next 10 years Robbins says, "You will work for somebody else who does."

As a life coach for eight years, It never ceases to amaze me how people with written goals always passes those without any. Do you know that only 3% of the nation has written goals? January is almost over. What do you demand of yourself to accomplish before the month is over? If we take 12 major action- driven goals for each month within a year our lives will look totally different.

You see another ten years is coming and if we want things to look different we must do it differently. What are you written goals? Are they posted around the house so that you can them?

I would like to motivate you to get serious about your life today. You have a purpose and mission. Sit down and get serious about your life today. Write out what you want to accomplish this year. If you don't know then make something up, and let the revisions come to you. We only have one life. The actions we choose to take today determine what that life is going to look like.
