It's Time to Put America First

Mr. President Get the Message from Chicago's Olympic Elimination

Anastasia Zoldak
In the coming weeks the enemies of Mayor Richard Daley will begin their attacks on his vision of bringing the Olympics to Chicago in 2016. If any criticism should be made it should be the fact that the Olympics are no longer about uniting the world through sports, but has become a political tool for those countries that don't really have any world power.

The Olympics are not about sports, anymore. After each Olympic opening ceremony, I eagerly await to see my favorite sporting events only to find that the actual competition has been highlighted and the medal ceremony not even shown. Yet, I've never heard the IOC or the competing countries complain.

Yes, Mayor Daley, you made a mistake. It was in assuming that the Olympics were about sports. The fact that such a great sports town was eliminate in the first round tells the tale. Politics were deciding factor and the opportunity to snub our President. We should question his and his advisors geo political shrewdness for making such a dumb move.

Yes, Americans, the world doesn't like us no matter what our naive government officials believe. They mock us while they take our money and we "Americans" take it. The question I have is how much of our tax dollars will go to help Rio in their Olympic bid?

It sounds cynical, but look at all the federal grants we give to foreign countries. It will make you sick, especially when you think of all the homeless people we have living in tent cities, underpasses, and in our sewer systems across the country. Thanks to the recession.

We need to wake up our politicians and eliminate all foreign grants. Call your Congressional representatives today and tell them we can't afford to help the world. We have to help our own people. Let's get business friendly and bring industries back to America, where they belong.

With unemployment over 9%, we would be foolish not to stop this madness. One grant I found sent aid to China, while on the other side of the ledger we're borrowing money from them! Does anyone else think this is insane? Did they also get some TARP money? Why are we bending over backwards to accommodate these governments when we get nothing in return?

No jobs! No money! No Respect!

The world's distain of us was never more apparent than in their elimination of such a great sports city. Where else in the world could any team fill a stadium year after year even though they haven't won a Championship for 100 years. Chicago is a sports town and yet they were eliminated in the first round.

I hope that President Obama wakes up today and realizes that it's time to put the welfare of America first. Stop bowing down to the rest of the world, they distain you and us. They act as if they respect you, because you bow down to their useless policies designed to weaken and bankrupt us.

Let the rest of the world take care of itself for a while. Maybe if we stop paying their way for a while we can pay off the federal deficit and stop mortgaging the future of our children. Let the world fend for itself for a while maybe they'll appreciate us more.
