It's a White Elephant

I can think of several White Elephant exchange gifts that are not only fun to give but also to receive! In many of the stores at this time of year you can find the candy dispenser that "poops"! I have seen penguins, polar bears, reindeer and even a Santa! The idea of the dispenser is to fill it with jelly bean type candy, generally they are brown in color, and when you push down on the legs the item plops out a reward of a candy poop. Though many would find this in poor taste there are those that find this item hysterically funny. These little candy dispensers can be purchased for just a few dollars and wrapped in a collection or singly for gift giving at a White Elephant exchange. While it may not be for the faint of heart most find it rather amusing, especially children and teenagers.

Another idea for a more expensive White Elephant gift in better taste and quite amusing is the Magic Eight Ball. The object of this item is to turn it upside down with the "8" facing upward, ask it a question, shake it vigorously and then turn it upside down so you can read your answer in the clear window on the bottom. This is an amusing little item about the size of a softball. It is fun for any age bracket that would participate in a White Elephant gift exchange.

For a non-purchased gift item from your home I would suggest that one item you purchased years ago that you thought would look wonderful in your home but now you find that it just does not fit in with your décor. Wrap it in your best paper and dress it up beautifully for that special person to choose. While you no longer need use of this item someone else may find it works well for them. One person's trash is another's treasure!

If you need to find a White Elephant gift whether purchased or from your home they are essentially an item that will bring a giggle to someone rather than be the most sought after item sold. A gift that you may have gotten at another time that you have no use of but would make a nice no cost exchange gift or the item you saw at the store that you thought "who in the world would want that?" makes a great gift as well. Need a gift in a hurry and no time to run to the store? Take your old toilet plunger and decorate it! This would be one of those items that most would wonder, "what do you do with a decorated plunger?" Let your imagination run a little wild and look around, there are plenty of items to be found.
