ITunes Album Gift Ideas

The Informer
Getting gifts is a very stressful task for those of use caught up with work, hobbies, and other preoccupations. Many of us resort to gift cards and certificates and in some cases even cash because we just don't have the time to pick out targeted gifts for our friends, family, and coworkers. Well, a great solution is iTunes. I'm sure you've used iTunes, even if it wasn't to buy music to at least organize the various albums and singles you have in your music collection. iTunes allows you to easily "gift" an album to someone else through email. While this probably isn't as meaningful as that signature Tiger Woods golf club your husband has been hunting for this year, it is a great last minute solution if you find yourself on Christmas Eve night without a present. With a few clicks and a credit card in hand, you can safely and securely take care of your holiday or birthday presents from the comfort of your home.

Here are some great albums that would make great gifts for anyone. I'll offer the album title, artist, and a little description of the music style.

1.Elliot Smith - Elliot Smith; Elliot smith has been a long time influence on many bands, including U2. His tranquil, relaxing songs are great for cooling down and staying upbeat about life. While Elliot's music is less "active," it is beautiful to even the more mainstream-oriented ear.

2.Madvillainy - Madvillain; Madvillain is a very strange yet interesting combination of rap/hiphop and various folk style, mainly Italian music. Madvillain's music revolves around the glorification of Villainy. The opening track, "The Illest Villains," isn't as much a song but a conversation littered with sound bites and loops. Many of the songs contain bits of this type of "conversation," yet not as much as the first track.

3.Left-Handed Straw - Controller 7; Controller 7 reminds me a bit of Madvillain, with a bit less rap and more orchestral influences. Controller uses cellos and violins in a very driving manner to support great drum beats. Vocally, the songs on Left-Handed Straw differ from straight out Alternative Raps to Monologues to Collected Sound bites to DJed lyrics.

4.Devotion - Beach House; Beach house is an elegant, unique musical duo that produces amazing songs. With a guitar, keyboard, lightweight drumbeats, and the flowing voice of Victoria Legrand complete this pleasing, genius array of music talent.

At $9.99 an album, iTunes offers affordable, convenient gift opportunities. Of course mean to convince you to not go out and buy that golf club for your husband, but if it all comes down to a few hours, a couple iTunes albums are a great gift for anybody.
