"An unknown error has occurred 1413"
What this error message is telling you is that the iPod could not have been properly restored or updated. This message is most frequent when someone is using iTunes 7 or later generations. Windows is known for causing this problem because of the presence of anti-spyware. Anti spyware software will stop iTunes from installing correctly and you will receive an error 1413 alert.
To start fixing this error your first step is to uninstall the anti virus software and then attempt to reinstall iTunes onto the computer. Simply restore or update the iPod by following the restoration steps. If restoration doesn't work to clear the error try the following steps below.
-1. Close ITunes
2. Use Windows Explorer to search for C 'C:\Program Files\iTunes' (the iPodUpdaterExt.dll file).
3. Run 'cmd'
4. When the command prompt window opens , run for type regsvr32 followed by the path to the .dll file.
5. Press enter; a window will appear which will read DllRegisterServer in c:/Program files/itunes/ipodupdaterext. Succeeded.'
6. Close the window
7. Open iTunes again and restore the ipod
This procedure will get the ipod to be restored but will not bring back the loss data. The only user friendly way to get the data back is by using some iPod recovery software. This software will scan the iPod hard disk and recover any corrupted iPod data. IPod Recovery Software will also recover any iPod data lost by restoration
By following the above steps you can solve the nuisance problem of having an iTunes 1413 error. You don't even have to send it back to Apple to get it fixed. Just Stop your anti spyware from blocking the installation and look for trustworthy IPod recovery Software.
