ITunes Performance Has Adam Lambert Fans in a Tizzy

It is Not About How Well the Single for Your Entertainment is Selling on ITunes, but How Bad ITunes is at Selling It

Kerry Kolsch
Adam Lambert fans are not so much upset about the sales ranking of the release of the single For Your Entertainment, but how glitchy the rollout of the song has been on iTunes. While Amazon.com has been able to pre-sell the album For Your Entertainment as well as sell the single of the same name without any problems and both the album and single are doing well on Amazon.com charts, iTunes seems to be in complete disarray. Since the release of the single For Your Entertainment on iTunes on November 4th, it has bounced back and forth between being ranked as a single and as an album even though the album was not available for pre-sale on iTunes. Not only have the sales rankings been a hit or miss by iTunes, but the ability to find or even buy the single has been sketchy. For the first few days after release, fans complained that when they searched iTunes for "For Your Entertainment" or "Adam Lambert", the single would not appear. Only a search for "For Your Entertainment Adam Lambert" would lead you to the single. This was not helped by the fact that the single was not showing up on the iTunes single charts but on the album charts. As soon as these glitches seemed to be fixed by iTunes, new problems popped up. Today, when fans clicked on links from radio stations and Google Ads to buy the single from iTunes, they were redirected to iTunes then told the item they were looking for was not available for sale in the US yet. I checked for hours and this was the message I got.

I think Adam Lambert fans are rightly frustrated when iTunes seems to be a source that the media goes to for sales figures but dose the media ever ask how reliable are iTunes sales figures? I wonder about them because iTunes had a problem with even placing a Google Ad that links the single For Your Entertainment to a working sales page. How many people clicked because they wanted to buy For Your Entertainment on iTunes and were told it was not for sale in the US? Dose iTunes just not check their links? Why does it always take iTunes so long to fix a problem?

In the big picture I am sure these glitches will not mean much to Adam Lamberts overall success. Adam is selling very well at Amazon.com. RCA has been selling a Collector's Edition of For Your Entertainment that includes an instant download of the single For Your Entertainment as well as a 16 page hard cover picture book and two bonus tracks at AdamOfficial.com. All went on sale well before anything hit iTunes. Adam has the buzz going for him and I am sure the single For Your Entertainment will take off when Adam performs it live on the American Music Awards, as I am sure Time for Miracles will get a major bump when the movie 2012 is released.

I am shocked that iTunes seems to be so confused over the release of a single and an album of the same name that it has taken so long for them to figure out the problems. Today iTunes was paying Google to advertise Adam Lambert's new single and their own internal links told buyers that the song was not available in the US. I have never paid attention to iTunes, but are they always this shoddy?

I preordered the album and purchased the single directly from adamofficial.com ... iTunes is not the only place to buy music. Actually it is my least favorite and I only shop there when my preferred outlets don't offer what I'm looking for. Only sales that matter in the end are overall sales and I'm confident Adam will do well.

I didn't like Adam on Idol but I absolutely love this song and was so surprised to see that it wasn't performing well on iTunes at all. Now I see why. Great article :)

I had the same problem%2C it was frustrating. I want to pre order the album and the single but no such luck%2C even when the FYE debut single is out%2C Iv%27es searched for several days not showing up. Are they interested selling Adam%27s music%3F But Carrie Underwood is no issue so is Allen.. Hmmmmmm is iTunes singling out Adam%27s songs or what. I think they are anti Adam fans. If they want business they should not delay any sales single or album. Time for Miracles only showed up for a week%2C and then I had a hard time finding it%2C not even showing in the chart. But if you look at it in BillBoard it%27s %2321 on digital. If you are frustrated with iTunes use Zune it%27s there before iTunes.%0D%0AYesterday there was article that Adam%27s single is not doing well and Kris is out selling Adam%2C That is a bunch of BS%2C Kris single is out for a long time before even the Time for Miracles and I can%27t seems to find it anywhere in the Chart. So who ever wrote that article nee

ITune is always a mess. It is easier to by from Amazon or one of the many other sites. I find Itunes clumsy and never up to date and the search process is always muddy. If I did not own an ipod I would avoid them.
