Ivana Milicevic Talks About Her Role in 'The Howling Reborn'
Discusses Fear of Horror Films, 'Twilight' Comparisons
Describe your character in "The Howling Reborn." Do you feel you're anything like her?
She is kind of wild and dangerous. [She's also] maternal and manipulative. No [I'm not like her]; except for the maternal side of me. Although this "mother" is a bit misguided to say the least.
What was the biggest challenge when you were filming "The Howling Reborn?"
I wish we had more time. There were lots of times where the werewolf costumes needed extra care, but luckily I didn't have to wear one. Also, the contact lenses were intense because they covered the whole eye and were so hard to put in for some reason.
What was your favorite part of filming "The Howling Reborn?"
I had so much fun with my cast: Landon [Liboiron], Lindsey [Shaw], Kristian [Hodko], Niels [Schneider], and Sean [Mercado]! They called me Mama. We loved working together and hanging out during our down times as well.
If you had to wear makeup, what was the process like to get it on and how long did it take?
Larysa [Chernienko] is the best makeup artist. I loved her! Luckily for me, I only had beauty makeup as opposed to gore. They did have to make a cast of my face and back in plaster. That is always a little bit claustrophobic.
Some people have compared "The Howling Reborn's" romantic element and high school setting as a way to compare it to "Twilight." What do you have to say to that?
I think that any movie that is set in the world of the supernatural and has a young romance will be compared to "Twilight" now because that is a nice money wagon to be on. Are there werewolves in both? Yes. Is there a teenage romance? Yes. But no vampires.
How do you think "The Howling Reborn" differs from other werewolf films?
I am usually pretty scared of werewolf movies and horror in general. I am the girl screaming in the theater at booms and door creaks. They freak me out. I haven't seen our movie yet. I wish I could answer the question better, but I am not a werewolf movie expert. Maybe the antagonist isn't usually a female?
