I've Got the Page View Blues : Each Day Brings More Bad News

A Short Poem About the Lack of Visitors to My Articles This Summer

Tony Payne
My career at Associated Content was going really well up to the end of June, and then my article page views dropped dramatically, because of the summer.

July saw horrible traffic levels, and August has been even worse.

So what can I do about it? I have tried to write more articles, change topic, do more promoting, use some catchy titles, but with little success.

I am therefore left with only one thing that I can do, and that's to write a poem about my Page View Blues.

It's kind of catchy, so if you want to make up a tune and sing along, feel free...

If you really like it, feel free to post an audio or video article and link back to here. Everyone loves blues music, I am sure someone can come up with a good rendition. Can anyone play Blues Guitar? And does anyone have a dog that can howl along in the background...

I've got the page view blues
Each day brings more bad news
No matter what topic I choose
I just get pathetic daily views

I really want some good traffic
My wife is really giving me stick
And it's all making me feel sick
Am I really just this dumb and thick

No matter what writing topic I select
My dreams of success just get daily wrecked
To be a writer is a choice I did elect
But still few visitors came whenever I checked

I'd love to be a page view millionaire
I'd have articles galore to share
Might even afford to color my hair
Or shave it all off just for a dare

I have a camera and I love to take snaps
So I published slideshows, but the views are crap
It's so frustrating, I just get into a flap
I need to write more, but just feel like a nap

With witty titles I tried to make some hits
Wrote articles about Fat Balls and Blue Tits
But still the traffic is just like sugar
I'm pulling my hair and going out of my wits

With summer over I hope to get into a groove
And write some articles that turn out to be smooth
And then my page views just might improve
And these page view blues I can remove

Wish me luck everyone, and I wish you all good luck with your article traffic and success too as we move out of the summer doldrums and hopefully into a higher traffic season.

Don't worry. Mine have pretty much flat-lined. They only spike up to about 200 when I write something new, then they go back down. Whatever. I try not to worry about the page views too much. I do need to write more though. I have so many ideas that I need to do something with.

I get low page views from many of my stories. recently I had a breakthrough with my UFC stories- got 1960, 1360, and 980 page views in three consecutive days. I believe my UFC stories are finally paying off. Just keep plugging away Tony

I really must try and write some scary Halloween stories. I did write one, but so far it has had less than 100 page views. I need to give it some companions.
