I've Got Some God in Me

Robin Jessie-Green
I've got some God in me

On my mother's mother's side

And my father's father's side too

There's some Pentecostal mixed

with a bit of hoodoo

I'm a spiritual person

Who does nothing religiously

Except say my grace before stuffing my face

And my prayers in bed

before my down feathered pillow

cradles the back of my head

But I've got some God in me

I know Right from wrong

It's a matter of Free Will

And just how strong

a person can be

to live Righteously

I struggle like all of you

To live my life right

and make it through

I don't have to show it

Maybe I don't want to Congregate

and let everyone else know it

So what you haven't seen me in Church

Is that the only determining factor of my worth?

Don't be so quick to Judge

The Most High and I go way back

Yaweh knows me Biblically, as a matter of fact

Don't proclaim it's Blasphemy

My connection with my Creator knows no boundary

I've got some God in me

He bestows my talent

He provides my possibility

When you're doubting me

you're questioning Him my friend

Because you see

I am His kin

A child of Him

I remember talking with Him

Before I was told to descend

to become who I am

And walk amongst all of you

How many of you can say that too?

You don't have to Believe

But it doesn't make it less True

I've got some God in me

That's what Oprah was trying to say. We all got some God in us, those of us who believe. Love it times 10.
