To begin, the Jabra BT8040 Bluetooth headset does not have the ear hook that has become a signature of the bulkier Bluetooth headsets on the market. The Jabra BT8040 instead uses a small rubber piece that fits snugly into the outer ear, holding the headset firmly in place. The may sound uncomfortable, but the extremely light weight of the Jabra BT8040 headset makes it so one will hardly even notice when wearing the headset.
Perhaps the most exciting feature of the Jabra BT8040 Bluetooth headset is its ability to stream music files from an mp3 enabled cell phone (such as my LG Mint Chocolate). Since music phones are becoming more common, the ability to listen to one's music files through a Bluetooth headset is a desirable feature for many Bluetooth users. Although the Jabra BT8040 is a single ear piece, and hence a monaural device, the BT8040 will automatically combine the left and right channels from a stereo mp3 file into a single channel. This streaming audio feature on the Jabra BT8040 headset makes the BT8040 a perfect device for listening to stealth music while at work, at school, or on the go.
Like all Bluetooth headsets, the Jabra BT8040 is easy to get paired with just about any Bluetooth-enabled cellular telephone. The setup is just a matter of putting the headset in roaming or pairing mode, and using the phone's menu to locate the BT8040 in the Bluetooth settings menu.
The rechargeable battery in the Jabra BT8040 Bluetooth headset lasts a surprisingly long time considering that the device is continually transmitting and receiving while streaming audio from a phone. I have used my Jabra BT8040 for several hours of continuous music streaming while at work, although the BT8040 does take a little more time than I would like to recharge the battery when it does finally die. But the ability to stream stealth music via my Bluetooth headset incognito more than makes up for this minor inconvenience.
In conclusion, the Jabra BT8040 Bluetooth headset is a comfortable, lightweight Bluetooth headset with the added feature of streaming mp3 music. The BT8040 is perfect for those consumers who are looking for a lightweight Bluetooth device without an ear hook, a Bluetooth with a long battery life, and a Bluetooth that will stream music audio from their mp3 player phones.
