As reported in Examiner, NASA astronaut Ron Garan traveled onboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in May 2010 on a 14 day to the International Space Station 220 miles above Earth, and with him he carried gospel pop singer Jaci Velasquez's album Llegar a Ti. Fresh from her outer space experience, Jaci Velasquez recently teamed up with fellow Christian Latin pop musicians Salvador to host a Nashville flood relief concert on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Trinity Music City Auditorium in Hendersonville, Tennessee. This follows the recent concert by Amy Grant, Brandon Heath and Jason Ingram to help local flood victims.

This is not the first time Jaci Velasquez has partnered with Salvador. The two gospel music talents share more than their Christian Latin pop connection since Velasquez is married to Salvador lead singer, Nic Gonzalez. The two singers met and dated several years ago, but broke up and moved on. However, they reconnected in 2006 and were soon married in a small ceremony in the groom's hometown of Austin, Texas. Now the Velasquez-Gonzalez family lives in Nashville and is joining forces with the rest of the Salvador band and The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's Emergency Response Fund to benefit their city after the deadly Nashville flood of 2010. As reported in 'The Flood of the Century' - the Nashville Flood of 2010, caused damage in excess of $1.5 billion and has been called by many news sources the "worst non-hurricane disaster in American history."

Velasquez has participated in another flood relief event with The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee - the "Music City Keep on Playin'" flood relief telethon, broadcast from the Ryman Auditorium on May 16th. According to Examiner, that concert raised more than $1.8 million and featured performances by the award-winning Velasquez as well as Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Keb' Mo', Kellie Pickler, CeCe Winans, Martina McBride, and Will Hoge.

The free Jaci Velasquez-Salvador flood relief concert took place June 5, 2010 at the Trinity Music City Auditorium at One Music Village Boulevard in Hendersonville (a short distance from Nashville), and was taped for an upcoming broadcast special and DVD release. Donations were accepted to benefit flood victims at the event, and all proceeds went to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee's Emergency Response Fund.
