Jack Black- the Boy Pirate

Long time ago when cars had not been made and people still rode in carriages pulled by horses there was a boy named Jack Black. Jack was no ordinary boy, he was a pirate. A real live pirate who captained his own ship named, "The Black Dragon."

Jack had a crew of ten people and with them he went through the seven continents. He had been to Asia, Africa, North and South America, Australia, Antarctica and Europe too. Jack loved going to different countries and meeting new people. He and his crew went to a new continent on every journey and the adventures they had were tales told throughout the world.

Jack Black was a special pirate. He had a ship that was so fast that no other ship could ever catch it. The ship could ride through the biggest storms and his crew could beat every other crew in the land. Jack had become a pirate because he loved the sea.

Before Jack became a pirate he had always loved the books about pirates and their adventures. When somebody asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up he always answered, 'A Pirate.' Grown-up people laughed when they heard his answer and he did not know why. When he told his best friend, Sam, he never laughed. At times parents and other grown-ups did not understand Jack and his friends.

It was at one of these times that Jack decided he would not wait to grow up. He would become the world's first boy pirate. He told Sam and like a good friend, Sam decided to help him. Together they got a ship and asked around to get a crew. When they had everything a pirate would want like a sword, a parrot, a treasure map, they set sail into the sea.

Jack loved the sea. He loved when the waves hit his ship and made it go from one side to another. With his crew he followed every treasure map he found. His favorite journey was his first voyage which had landed him in India.

India is a country in Asia and the people living there are called Indians. India is an exotic land where they have many different things. They have really chili spices and very oily food. Most Indians are vegetarians and eat no meat but some Indians like to eat meat. Jack met a boy called Guru when he went to India. Guru wanted to be a pirate as well.

Jack did not know whether Guru would make a good pirate so he gave him a test. Jack and his crew told Guru that if he could find the treasure by himself they would take him on their adventure. They gave him the map they had. Jack and Guru went through the Indian cities. From the docks of Bombay to the deserts of Rajastan they travelled until they came to the jungle area.

The people of the village near the jungle told Jack that there was a tiger in the jungle that was very mean. Jack was not scared. He was a pirate. He told his crew they would follow the trail into the jungle but Guru did not want to go.

Jack told Guru Pirates had to be brave and do things even when they were scared. Guru still did not want to go. So Jack told him that he would not make a good pirate. Jack's friend Sam was scared as well. However, Sam was also scared when his mum left him to sleep alone at night. So Sam thought that even though the jungle was scary he should try going into it. He would be very, very careful and think before he did anything.

So Jack Black and his crew went into the jungle where the mean tiger lived. They took slow steps and were very quiet. Far away they heard a roar. Sam jumped in fear and held tight to Jack's hand. Holding each other's hand they slowly crept through the jungle. Suddenly a big snake jumped right in front of Jack's crew.

"Where are you all going," asked the snake.

"To find the treasure," answered Sam.

"Treasure, well, well, if you want to cross into my land you have to give me something. How about that boy dressed in green?" said the snake.

The boy in green was Tim, a member of Jack's crew. Tim went white with fear. He did not want to go to the snake. The snake was big and scaly. His mother had always told him snakes could hurt you and he did not want to be hurt.

Jack began to think how they could get away from the snake when suddenly a strange kind of music started. It was music that is used in India to charm snakes. When snakes hear that music they begin to dance and go towards the person playing the music.

When Jack and his crew turned around they saw Guru, sitting on the branch of a tree playing an instrument like a recorder. The snake went away from them and danced underneath the tree where Guru sat. When Guru stopped the snake just slunk away.

"Guru!" exclaimed Jack and his crew, "what are you doing here?"

"I saw how brave you all were and decided to follow you. I was scared but if you do not try new things you will always be scared. That is why I came," answered Guru.

"Well thanks!" everyone said.

"Now, let's hurry and get that treasure, "said Guru and everyone started on their way.

They soon got to a cave that was very dark. Nobody wanted to go in so Jack, who was the captain said he would go in. Jack was afraid but he wanted to be a good pirate and he knew that to make his crew brave he had to be brave. So he went in and slowly followed the path the map told him to follow. After a long time he came to a door. When he opened the door he saw a big spider's web. He hated spiders!

The spider's web was very big and he could not get through the door without breaking it. He stood there until he had an idea, he picked up a stick and with it broke the web and then went inside. He just hoped the spider did not come after him!

Inside he saw a box. When he opened it there were jewels and coins in it. He was so excited he picked up the box and ran all the way outside. He wasn't even scared of the big spider he saw on the wall. He showed his crew what he had found.

Everybody was so happy. Now they were really pirates! Their adventure in India had helped them make a new friend as well. Now they had Guru, an Indian pirate with them.
