Jackie Christie: “Basketball Wives LA” Troublemaker Extraordinaire?

Women friends often run into issues with each other. But on reality TV jealousy, mistrust, and betrayal are the main causes of drink-throwing encounters. Even though this season, the beverages have remained in their glasses (so far)-the tension amongst the women continues to grow. Why? In a nutshell: Jackie Christie---who appears to have become Enemy #1 on "Basketball Wives L.A."

We were at first leery of Malaysia who popped off the season with a dramatic fistfight with Laura Govan. Then the wives turned on Draya---the show's resident sexpot. Finally, Laura caught the brunt of the hostility. But as time progressed, the women realized that it was in fact Jackie who was at the center of most of their drama.

What is it about Jackie that has the women up in arms? In real life, plenty of women are guilty of the things she has done on the show. Indeed there is probably a lady in your friend circle who seems to keep drama going---even when you don't realize it.

Instigation

Imagine a scenario in which three little girls are on the playground. Girl #1 runs up to Girl #2 and gives her a little slap and says: "That's from Girl #3…" The fight is on. Yeah, yeah, yeah…it's a weird analogy. But the same thing has basically happened on BBW-LA. Jackie has a tendency to pull the ladies aside individually, telling them that the other women have been saying mean things.

She pulled Malaysia aside and told her that the other ladies were uncomfortable with her "preachy" personality. Ironically she took Draya under her wing, convincing the video model that the others didn't trust her. And finally, she pulled Imani aside to continue her campaign against Laura. The end result is that no one trusted anyone----except Jackie. Hmmm…

Information = Ammunition

When Imani and Laura finally hashed out their differences in Hawaii, Jackie went ballistic. Not because she didn't want the two ladies to be friends, but because she didn't know what they'd been talking about. It's apparent that she needs to be privy to every conversation in order to gain some sort of footing within the group. One might say that she uses her knowledge about the others' lives as some sort of potential ammunition; the nosiness is nothing more than a symptom of her insecurity.

Jackie's Achilles Heel(s).

Nobody really likes being told that they're over-sensitive. On "Basketball Wives L.A." the other ladies can't seem to say "boo" around Jackie without her taking offense. She couldn't get over the fact that Laura basically called her fat. She chewed on that little insult for at least three episodes, and had a virtual meltdown when she accidentally ate pork at the Hawaiian luau. And contrary to popular belief, this little flaw seems to have bled over into her marriage.

Jackie and her husband Doug look like they have a happy marriage, a fact that she attributes to good communication---and the fact that they've remarried every year for 16 years. The concept is loving and wonderful, albeit a little unconventional. But after observing Jackie in action, the act is tinged with the unmistakable air of desperation. This is punctuated by the fact that she is completely paranoid about Doug being within 100 feet of any attractive women. Not a good sign.

Maybe BBW-LA should bring back Tanya and Kimsha…
