Jackie Evancho, America's Got Talent Superstar

If you haven't watched the newest sensation in America, Jackie Evancho from American's Got Talent, then you haven't experienced this gifted little girl's melodious voice. Jackie Evancho has a voice and talent that most of us can only dream about.

This cute 10-year old from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has taken America by surprise much like Susan Boyle did when she first sang for England's version of American Idol. Susan Boyle became a household name with her melodious voice and is known worldwide. Jackie Evancho has become USA's little darlin and she too, is being well-received worldwide.

Like many viewers, the first time I saw Jackie Evancho sing on America's Got Talent, I wasn't sure she was actually doing the singing. The resonance in her voice is that of someone who has been singing opera for many years, and Jackie has only been singing for three years. What I realized while watching her on America's Got Talent is that two of my senses are in disbelief. My hearing and vision cannot comprehend the situation together.

America's Got Talent Judge Howie Mandel is quick to point out that yes, Jackie Evancho is actually doing the singing. Like most viewers, he admitted on one previous show that he couldn't believe she was actually singing and that many people ask him that same question. The answer is yes, that incredibly powerful voice is coming from this adorable 10-year old, America's newest sensation.

Jackie Evancho is 10-years old and she became interested in opera when she saw "Phantom of the Opera" several years ago. She was 7 at the time and after seeing "Phantom" she began singing songs from that play around the house. According to NBC, her Mom entered her in a local talent contest for fun and Jackie was a runner-up. Jackie also plays the violin and the piano.

It's wonderful that through television and shows such as America's Got Talent, gifted performers like Jackie Evancho can be seen and heard for all of us to enjoy. Of course, television and America's Got Talent also offers an opportunity for these performers to become their dream.

In America's Got Talent, Jackie Evancho is going after the big win and a chance to perform in Las Vegas. I'm not sure her talent belongs in Las Vegas as she deserves to be heard worldwide.
