Jack's Winter Adventure

Tracy Smith
One cold wintry after noon, Jack snuck outside to play. Mom and Dad were both busy working in their home offices. Jack was supposed to stay in his room and play by himself. That is how every day went; Jack would play in his room until it was time to eat then back to his room. Jack even ate all alone. Mom or Dad would stop long enough to give Jack a sandwich and cookies. Jack was lonely and tired of spending everyday by his self. Jack went into the closet and got dressed in his warm clothes and left to go play outside.

Jack walked down to the city park; he was hoping to find other children playing in the park. When Jack arrived the park was empty. Jack's face was all red from the harsh cold winter wind. Jack made him self a snow fort to hide from the cold wind. Then in the corner of the fort he made him self a snowman just about the same size he was. When Jack was done making the snowman he was tired. He made a little pile of snow into a pillow. Jack lied down on the snow pillow and looked at the snowman. "I think I'll call you, Max" he said proudly as his drifted off to sleep.

When Jack awoke he saw Max had a smile on his face. "Max, why are smiling" Jack asked. Max's eye moved. Jack sat up and said "I wish you were real Max." Right then Max moved and said "Hi, will you be my friend?" Jack was very surprised but happily shook his head in agreement.

Jack and Max did everything together. They went sledding, ice skating, and had snowball fights. Jack's tummy started to growl and the day had turn into night. Max made Jack a snow pizza, but it didn't fill Jack tummy. The two kids walked to Jack's house. They stopped at the window of Jack's parents' office. Both the parents were busy working away. A tear rolled down Jack's face. "See Max" Jack Said "They didn't even notice I was gone." Max gave Jack a hug and said "You can get some food and go back to the snow fort." Jack sadly said "Ok, I'll get some blankets too so I can warm up" Jack hurried into the home grabbed the food and some blankets and headed back to the park.

Meanwhile, back at home, Jack's Mom, Maria, went to get Jack something to eat. To her surprise she couldn't find Jack anywhere in the home. She rushed to the office to get her husband, Ted, together the both searched for Jack. An hour later they called the police for help to find their son. The parents were very sad and realized they didn't give Jack enough attention. They didn't even know how long Jack had been missing or what he was wearing.

Outside a bad snow storm was brewing. Jack and Max were inside their snow fort. Jack was full from the food but was cold even after being wrapped into the blanket. Max checked outside to see about taking Jack home so he can be warm. "I'm sorry Jack, but the snow is so bad outside, we can't find our way back" Said Max. Max did his best to comfort Jack and soon Jack fell asleep.

Jack woke up with someone tapping him on his leg. It was a police officer. Jack sat up and the officer asked his name. "I'm Jack" Jack said. The police yelled off into the distance "I found him, he's over here." A bunch of strangers ran up with blankets and hot chocolate and put Jack into the ambulance. The ambulance gave Jack a ride home to his Mom and Dad. Jack's parents greeted him at the door with lots of hugs and apologies. Jack explained that he just want someone to play with.

The next day Jack took his parents to the park to see Max. Max was there but he didn't move, he was just as Jack had made him. From that day forward Jack's parents remembered to take time out for Jack.
