Jacksonville, Florida: My Favorite Local Coffee Shops

Local coffee roasters brew up some good flavor for local coffee shops in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm all about supporting local businesses whenever possible and these coffee shops make purchasing a local roast in a local shop easy to do from about anywhere in Jacksonville.

Here are my three favorite local coffee shops - located in Southside, Jacksonville Beach, and Five Points/Riverside. All three of these shops use coffee from my favorite local roaster, Bold Bean Coffee Roasters of Jacksonville.

Five Points Coffee and Spice Company

Nestled in a corner of historic Riverside, one of my favorite parts of town, is Five Points. A small, artsy, bohemian area of shops, cafes, bars and more, Five Points is also home to Five Points Coffee and Spice Company. Five Points Coffee is a simple coffee shop featuring good coffee and tea selections - with a major dining component. This local coffee shop has a full menu of good food, from soups and sandwiches for lunch, to dinner with nightly dinner specials at night. Even better, Five Points Coffee and Spice Company is open until 3 a.m. and often has musical entertainment. If you'd like your coffee to go, you can get it and enjoy the shops in Five Points. Or sit down to dinner and stay for awhile.

Coffee Bistro

Coffee Bistro features all day breakfast sandwiches in additional to bagels, muffins, granola yogurt cups, and oatmeal. Sandwiches, pressed sandwiches, and fresh salads are also available for lunch. This is a breakfast and lunch place, no dinner. Cookies, muffins, and biscotti are available as light bites to munch with your coffee. Coffee Bistro closes at 4 p.m. during the week and at 2 p.m. on the weekends. So plan your coffee run early here.

Sippers Coffeehouse

If you'd like a simple but wonderful cup of coffee at a reasonable price to go along with free wifi and a comfy couch - besides your living room - you'll like Sippers Coffeehouse. A good cup of coffee can be had here for around a $1 - or splurge on a cafe au lait or more upscale cup of mocha skinny something or other for a little more change. Tables are available outside and inside you'll find couches and tables brightly lit by sunlight from the large windows. The staff is friendly and helpful; the interior has a unique decor somewhat 1950's in nature. Sippers is a great place to bring your laptop and get some work done while people watching at the same time. Take a break for a muffin or a pastry - try the banana nut muffin, it's my favorite.

You'll find Sippers in Jacksonville's Southside area, Gate Parkway in the Village Walk Shopping Center.
