Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Houston Texans: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

Jacksonville Jaguars Look to Make Statement in Week 17 Against Houston Texans

Todd Jacobs
Jack Del Rio and the Jacksonville Jaguars will look to put an exclamation point on their 2010 NFL season against the Houston Texans January 2nd. David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars left the door wide open for Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts by losing to the hapless Washington Redskins last weekend 20-17. The Houston Texans enjoyed their Christmas weekend by dropping another fourth quarter loss to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.

Jacksonville Jaguars Defense vs Houston Texans Offense

The Jacksonville Jaguars are vulnerable to a good passing quarterback and Matt Schaub fits the bill for the Houston Texans. The Jacksonville Jaguars are giving up 255 yards per game through the air and although their game against the Washington Redskins was not a bad game it was not the norm for this defense.

Defending the run is also a weakness to this Jacksonville Jaguars team. They are giving up 115 yards per game on the ground and they are now preparing to face Arian Foster the number one running back in the NFL. Up front the Jacksonville Jaguars are solid but defense could be the downfall of this unlikely Jacksonville Jaguars AFC South title run.

Matt Schaub and the Houston Texans offense is looking solid as they finish their season but they struggled most of the 2010 NFL season. Andre Johnson is dinged up after a season of nagging injuries but Arian Foster the Houston Texans number one running back is looking to put an exclamation point on his NFL rushing crown.

Offensive philosophy has transformed over the NFL season for the Houston Texans. They are becoming a balanced team as the season comes to a close and one wonders if this team ever learns to close games where will their future lead. The Houston Texans are averaging 121 yards on the game and they are passing for 255 yards per game. The Houston Texans offense has the edge over the Jacksonville Jaguars defense.

Houston Texans Defense vs Jacksonville Jaguars Offense

This game will not be a defensive battle. The Houston Texans defense has been beaten down this season and it is a major reason for their disappointing season. Mario Williams is the best player on this defense but the team needs to assemble talent to help Williams and this young defense succeed. They are giving up 275 yards per game passing but their run defense has been decent allowing 101 yards per game on the ground.

David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars have ridden the rollercoaster of the 2010 NFL season and they have a chance to advance to the NFL Playoffs despite having more than a few bad performances this season. Garrard will be in trouble if Maurice Jones-Drew is out of this game. The lack of a running game has hurt the Jacksonville Jaguars in the past and this game will be no different. The Jacksonville Jaguars offense has the edge over the Houston Texans defense.

The Houston Texans are 2-5 against the spread on their home field. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 4-3 against the spread on the road and this game is for all the marbles in the AFC South.
