Jake Pavelka Bounces Down the Runway During "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love"

Rejected by Bachelorette Jillian Harris, Pavelka Now Calls the Shots on the Latest Edition of "The Bachelor"

In "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," the 14th edition of the popular ABC reality series, Prince Charming wears pilot's wings and says that he "wants the fairy tale, happily ever after marriage." Based on the first episode of the season, however, Bachelor Jake Pavelka from Denton, TX will have to fly above some serious emotional turbulence to find the woman of his dreams.

The Brad Womack factor could play a part in "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love"

In 2007, Brad Womack stunned "Bachelor" fans when he rejected both DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft on the final episode of his season. Womack's decision not to propose to either finalist has caused a ripple effect through subsequent editions of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette."

Winning America's heart after Womack's rejection, Deanna Pappas returned as the next "Bachelorette," but she went from sweetheart to stinker when she passed over Jason Mesnick, a single father from Seattle. With a back-story almost too good to be true, Mesnick was the natural choice for the next edition of "The Bachelor," but there was renewed drama when DeAnna returned to the show, looking for a second chance with Jason.

Although Jason ultimately chose Melissa Rycroft to be his wife, on the "After the Final Rose" follow-up episode, Jason dumped his new fiancée on national television and selected runner-up Molly Malaney instead. Once again, the handsome guy with a heart of gold turned out to have feet of clay.

"I've been in the pilot seat all my life, but I've never been in charge of something like this"

On the last edition of "The Bachelorette," Jillian Harris, who also was rejected by Jason Mesnick, shocked viewers when she let Jake Pavelka walk out of her life. Jake, however, had knowledge that fellow contestant Wes Hayden had a girlfriend, and the producers allowed him to come back briefly to tell Jillian the truth. Pavelka already had a fan base, and his stand-up behavior on the show made him a shoo-in to become "The Bachelor."

Like the John Glenn of the reality television world, Jake Pavelka does seem as if he stepped out of a fairy tale. Good-looking and in top physical shape, the 25 women who competed for his attention on the first episode of "On the Wings of Love" can't keep their hands off his rock-hard abdominal muscles. The women say they like him for his honor and personality, but the fact that Pavelka is a handsome guy doesn't hurt, either.

A daddy's girl, single mom and a klutz compete for Jake Pavelka's affections

Although each bachelorette is quite attractive, the "Bachelor" producers have cranked the drama into high-gear this season. Christina, who did receive a rose at the end of the episode, described herself as "a guy's girl and a little bitchy" at the beginning of the show. She even brought the other girls small bags of jelly beans to ease the pain of what she viewed as their eventual rejection by Jake. Christina especially didn't like the amount of cleavage that the other contestants were showing, saying that "Some of the girls have their ta-tas out to play."

Ella, a single mom, seemed quite genuine and was forthcoming about her son, Ethan; she even presented Jake with Ethan's lucky airplane. Tenley, who received the all-important "First Impression Rose," even gave Jake a nervous kiss. Tenley seems as if she has a good shot at the Final Four, as does Ali, who gave her best effort despite illness and a bad case of laryngitis. Ashleigh H, who tripped and fell into Jake's arms, also has a good chance at a proposal at season's end.

Vienna, a self-professed daddy's girl, seems like the longest shot in this edition of "The Bachelor." Jake Pavelka is a decent, old-fashioned guy, but he seems like the type that wants a more independent woman, and Vienna doesn't fit the bill.

Drama on the horizon for "Bachelor" Jake Pavelka

The first show of the typical "Bachelor" or "Bachelorette" season contains previews and plenty of teasers about what will happen in the following weeks, and this edition is no exception. In one snippet, host Chris Harrison says that one of the girls has "crossed a line that must not be crossed." Another clip showed Jake blowing up in front of the camera, saying that "I'm not sending anyone home tonight."

Jake's decision to give Michelle a rose on the first episode of "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love" also is a mistake waiting to happen. Highly emotional and already jealous of the other girls, Michelle could be the one to ignite all the drama that erupts in the next few weeks. Jake will need nerves of steel or a good parachute to get through this season of 'The Bachelor" in one piece.

"The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love" will be shown on Mondays at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
