James Brown's Companion Locked Out of His Home

Tomi Rae Hynie, 36, Brown's partner and back-up singer has been locked out of Brown's home in South Carolina at the request of his lawyer, for legal real estate reasons.

It seems Ms. Hynie and the late singer Brown, who died of a heart attack on Christmas Day, were not legally married, although they do have a 5 year old son together. They were once married but that marriage was later annulled, and they never remarried.

"This is my home" Ms. Hynie told reporters from the Associated Press, claiming she had no place else to go. But Brown's lawyer Buddy Dallas claimed she has a home a few blocks away from Brown's and that she was not homeless.

The last message to Brown from Hynie was left on her cell phone greeting which was "James, if this is you, I'm in a meeting and I will call you back when I get out. Thank you so much for calling. Happy holidays." Neither Hynie, nor her lawyer could be reached for further comments.
