James Jay Lee Manifesto: Discovery Channel Hostage Taker Apparently Not a Fan of the Gosselins

Radical environmentalist James Jay Lee has taken hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. TMZ reports that James Jay Lee has a gun, a small number of hostages, and a few metallic containers strapped to himself that could be explosive devices. Fortunately, at this time no injuries have been reported. So why attack the Discovery Channel headquarters? James Jay Lee recently published a manifesto at savetheplanetprotest.com letting everyone know why he thinks the Discovery Channel needs to change, and it looks like he's resorted to trying to get certain shows off the air by force and wants to hijack the network with his brand of programming.

According to James Jay Lee's manifesto on savetheplanetprotest.com, he has a really big problem with the Discovery Channel's programs that focus on women giving birth to "more filthy children" (hope Kate Gosselin has pretty of extra security now that she's such a big celebrity). He goes on to further attack Discovery Channel Health and TLC for rewarding the "false heroics" behind giving birth to more "parasitic human infants".

James Jay Lee's manifesto also attacks the Discovery Channel for shows promoting war and the technology behind it, and connects it to his attack on shows about birth by stating that more humans = more war.

Based on his manifesto, James Jay Lee seems to believe that the Discovery Channel has the power to save the planet through its programming, stating the network should find solutions for unemployment, stop war, fix the economy, and find solutions for global warming and pollution. He also says that we need to save the "...Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels."

It's not hard to imagine the spin that those like Glenn Beck are going to put on this, but before they start trying to paint all environmentalists as whackjobs, it's important to take note that James Jay Lee has some very Tea Party-esque views on immigration stated in his manifesto.

James Jay Lee's manifesto is quite a read and parts of it would be easy to have a good laugh at if he hadn't taken such a drastic and potentially deadly action. It's also a shame that someone who cares so deeply about the environment has resorted to pointless violence; instead of having the Discovery Channel change its programming as per his wishes in an attempt to help save the planet, it looks like he's just made all of the other environmentalists who work hard for change without doing anything so stupid look just as radical as he is.
