16 Year Old Sister to Britney Spears Announces Pregnancy
Jamie Lynn Spears, star on Nickelodeon's TV show "Zoey 101" and an accomplished actress in her young age of 16 years, has announced that she is pregnant. Wow. 16 and pregnant with her "boyfriend" Casey Aldridge. She has stated in the past that she was single and not tied down, but however now she is announcing the pregnancy with him as her boyfriend.
They are totally shocked and surprised by this turn of events in her life. She is 12 weeks pregnant and you almost wonder what part of premarital sex and its consequences she is shocked at. Her mother is shocked-you would think this girl was a complete angel compared to Britney and her antics with her husband Kevin Federline and their 2 children.
What will Nickelodeon do at this point? They have ended the production of the show and plan to start the next season in February-will they consider a new Zoey or just cancel the show altogether? They leave the show with the option to conclude with the last episode with Jamie Lynn's character moving away to London.
And what is the message that this sends to all the pre-teens and teenagers that love and adore this girl? She condones premarital sex with her actions, and condemns it with her words-not so much condemns but she says it is something you "definitely should not do"...I find most kids follow the idea of what someone does, not what they say. Time will tell the long term effects of this for America's young girls and the effect it will have on this young girl's acting career.

Post a CommentThere comes a time when we need to stop blaming solely the parents once a child reaches a certain age. I am sure mama Spears did not tell her daughters that it was okay to smoke, drink or to have sex (and get pregnant) before they were married. Kids need to be held accountable for their actions, and they need to learn that there are serious consequences for making bad choices.
I agree with Kassidy. I heard the mother was writing a book on parenting. I can't imagine what advice she could possibly offer, but I also agree with Pat. We can do our best as parents and things like this will still happen.
To me the surprising part is that some girls don't wind up pregnant at an early age. Parents can teach their kids the best they know how and live pure lives before them, and they'll still fall under the spell of the the world and the main thing it teaches these days which is that it's all about sex. When they use sex to sell cars and ice cream and spread it all over television shows and everything else, what can people expect? I've even known people who won't let their kids watch TV and they go to school and get exposed to what their friends say and do. We can only do our best and try not to come down on these kids too hard when they fall. As I recently told a friend who was devastated because her unmarried daughter got pregnant, every child is precious and she would love it when it came. And she does.
This was such a shocking outcome. It happens though, and now hopefully she can spin it into something positive for her adoring fans to learn from.
I see no morality at all in the Spears Family. What'd I hear? That Mother Spears was writing a book on how to raise kids? Heard that project is shelved. She should have spent more time parenting and less time writing. - Good story!
Not that Britney is the same as Jamie but Britney seems to have a serious emotional disorder. I don't think it can all be blamed on the drug use but an underlying condition aggravated by improper parental supervision, too much partying and drugs and the inability to parent her kids at this point.
And now I hear that Britney seems to have gone way over the edge, got in a standoff with the police and finally lost custody of the kids. So sad!

The real problem with what message it sends is all of the parents out there who tell their kids that celebrities are role models. They're not. The PARENTS should be the role models for their children.
Geeze...what a messed up situation. 16!? Quite a role model we have on our hands here. I feel bad for all the parents of the children who looked up to her. Good luck explaining it and keeping your kids from thinking waiting is the best thing to do.
