Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnant
The star of Nickelodeon's popular TV show Zoey 101 is having a baby. At the young age of sixteen, Jamie Lynn plans on raising a baby. Her mom, Lynne Spears, postponed her plans to release her new Parenting book in light of her daughter's news.
Nickelodeon said in a statement emailed to Reuters," We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being."
Casey Aldridge, is the father-to-be of the baby Jamie Lynn is carrying. The two are said to have met at church. Casey tries to remain out of the spotlight and the couple is rarely seen together.
In light of recent events with Brittany Spears, loosing custody of her two boys, ages one and two, to the father Kevin Federline, Jamie's big sister may not be the best one to take parenting advice from. The twenty six year old pop star has been in the spot light often recently in regards to the welfare and care of her children.
Production of the fourth and final season of Zoey 101 wrapped up in September. The show features Jamie Lynn as head strong girl at a co-ed boarding school in California. The boarding school was an all boys school that just opened its doors to allow girls. A spokesperson from Viacom Inc-owned network said that the new episodes will air through out 2008.
Zoey 101 is one of the highest rated programs on Nickelodeon. The series earned an Emmy nomination in 2005 for Outstanding Children's Program. Jamie Lynn won the Kids Choice Award for Favorite Television Actress in 2006.
In the public's eye, it appeared that Jamie Lynn was headed in the right direction. She was never seen bar hoping like her sister, or tarnishing her "good girl" reputation. Spears was never seen doing drugs or drinking alcohol. The announcing of the pregnancy is a shock.
The small town girl with the brown eyes could definitely have put her career at risk by choosing to come forward with the pregnancy. The message to youth and tweens that idolize Jamie Lynn has been tarnished.

Well she was such a good girl, hmmm I guess she didnt know about condoms???? hey we all make mistakes but we all dont make our living as the beautiful, and wholesome, "Zoe 101" now do we.
You are correct, it is not as bad as it seems. I commend her for deciding to go public and keep the baby. My son is a big fan of Zoey 101 and I am not really happy about the message it sends out for other tweens and teenagers about pre-marital sex. I do think she is doing the right thing and I hope her and her boyfriend do a better job with their child.
Ah, but it's not so bad as it might seem. Jamie didn't lie or conceal her pregnancy, and plans to keep the baby. It's important for parents to point out that, although getting pregnant at that age is NOT OK, Jamie is doing the right things as a result of her mistake. If she didn't, THEN her image would be tarnished. We all make mistakes. She's human too- so what? It's what we do about them that makes us adults or not.
